Description Walking in the desert can be quite unforgiving. You choose a path to get on the dune of your choice, but only after the first small dune you realize that there is a deep valley hiding behind it, meaning that sometimes you lose more altitude than you just gained from walking up. This can be quite exhausting in the sand of a desert.

Of course this also happened a couple of times to my buddy NicolasAlexanderOtto   and me when we were exploring this area in the Rocky Mountains last October, where the temperatures dropped below zero over night, hence the white sugar coating on the sand.

This was quite frustrating in the morning while we tried to be on a high dune on time for sunrise, but turned into fun after shooting sunrise, walking bare feet trough the sand and getting different sensations from either warm, heated-up sand and still ice-cold frozen sand from shady areas

Ah, Great Sand Dunes National Park I think, I've been there, loved it. Fusitites common, causing by lightning hitting the dunes and fusing the sand together.
