The classic juxtaposed against the new/more recent. Interesting.

Well if I can say one thing about Almost Alice...at least I know that a majority of the people on her side of the table, aren't going to try and kill her.

I don't hate Tim Burton's version but Walt Disney's is still my favorite. It made #11 on my list of disney movies from best to worst!

... I don't really understand why people say Tim's version of the Cheshire Cat was creepy. I adore the cat to bits! And find the other one incredibly disturbing o.o

As much as I adore the designs for Tim Burton's characters, I like classic Alice, and the comparison between the Cheshire cats......damn the other one's creepy.

No, she's not.
Burton may have left her mark on her...but she's noble. Heroic. Brave. Kind.
Sane.
Alice Kingsleigh is one of the Three Good Alices, and she's Alice Liddell's best friend.
They rule Wonderland together.

I do agree, I like the creepiness of the new one, but if you want a more interesting and more creepier one, play this video game called "American Mcgee's Alice"

wow, I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison like this, I think, ever. the only one who really followed the flow and change of time was Alice, unless Cheshire cats are supposed to look more mystical as they age.

Prolonged stay in Wonderland makes you immortal (in the "never dying of old age" kind of way).
Alice Kingsleigh is just as immortal as Alice Liddell.

SecretMarial In reply to WitchoftheMoor [2014-05-22 14:04:59 +0000 UTC]
Well, I believe that perhaps they're so different because Alice's young mind couldn't quite wrap her head around it all. A woman with a huge head ended up being a bit o the chunky side on the whole, the March Hare's dark colors were lightened, and the Chesire... Well, I don't know what happened to Chesire and Hatter, but her memory probably diluted the oddities and the details, making it easier to absorb, as well as easier to mistake for a dream. It's possible that Dormouse ignored her in the first movie, making her sleepy and distant to her young mind.
