That's true. Personally I think overcomplicated designs can make it hard to remember all the small details within clothes etc., but then again it is astounding how good people take care of even the slightest detail.
I guess it also depends on the Franchise. Overcomplicated designs for Rocket Knight could look a bit out of place. Unless you are taking a closer look at some bosses, that is. Fancy bosses but simple enough character designs to remember. A nice in-between, you could say.

Whenever I see super detailed drawings of any character I’m in complete awe! But I agree that is easy to forget small details if the design become overly complicated. When drawing the character studies I tend to stick with a simpler designs. But If I were to draw a scene or a stand-alone character I would go for more details. It also depends on the project or theme as well. I did noticed that the main bosses in RKA games have a lot going on with them: extreme spikes, uncomfortable looking metal boots, long claws, skulls & bones, cybernetic implants, accessorized with a cape. All combined together to look like pure nightmare fuel! Lol
Speaking of Bosses, I’ve been meaning to ask you about one villain in particular: Generalissimo Lioness. What is the deal with him…er or her? I mean, going by the one image I’ve found of Generalissimo (which is Italian for commander), he looks male but they refer to him as a Lioness? Perhaps it was supposed to be “Leone”? I’m also going to guess that this is another mistranslation, since you’ve told me that there was so many errors with the other characters’ names and information profiles. I had plan on drawing him next then later on King Gedol.

I agree with you. I think putting more details into clothes and accessory can look very astounding, the same goes with backgrounds. But I think that it also depends on how much patience someone has. If you look into the current era in terms of Cartoons you realize just how simplyfied everything looks these days. It doesn't help that they all rely on Flash animation techniques. While I don't think that it is a bad idea, I think it just looks uninspired and 'lazy'. Cashing in on something popular doesn't always mean 'success', and instead of trying out something new that stands out from the rest is no option anymore, it seems. I'm so split when it comes down to art styles. DX
Oh god the bosses of Rocket Knight. Don't get me started with them! It's not only the designs they have that scream "I will haunt you in your dreams", but it's also their powers they use against you. A cyber pig from out of space that wants to destroy an entire planet with the power of the Pig Star. A reptile dude that does not only control dark magic, but who also has the ability to swap bodies. A cyber lion that wants to use a warhammer to destroy an entire planet, and another crazy wanna-be Napoleon pig that destroys the Kingdom of Zephyrus from its very heart. Just what's the deal with final bosses and their desire to destroy the entire planet? I hope they realize that, once the planet is destroyed, that there's nothing left to be ruled! XD
Ooooh lord, Generalissimo Lioness. Myyyy favorite of them all. XD
I have no idea why he is called Lioness when his body is clearly based on a male lion. Even the Japanese Manual is calling him "Lioness". ライオネス総統 (Raionesu Sōtō) <- Generalissimo/Fuehrer Lioness. If they intended him to be called Leone, then it would have been ライオネ総統 (Raione Sōtō). Since the Japanese version calls him Lioness as well, we can safely say that it was properly translated. Why they gave him Lioness as a name instead of Lione is beyond my comprehention, though. I wish I could help you out there, but I'm afraid that's all that we get in terms of this confusing name decision.
I'm not sure if you were able to read the US manual of the SNES Spin-Off/Alternate Timeline. The Super Nintendo Spin-Off is still connected to the events of Rocket Knight Adventures for the MegaDrive/Genesis, but it has its very own path. Which means that both continuities (MegaDrive/Genesis and SNES) are considered Canon. A lot of things are missing or changed between the US manuals and the Japanese manuals.
I don't want to spam you with the things I've translated so far, but if you are interested about the role of Generalissimo Lioness, especially if it helps you for your Character Sheet that you want to work on, then you can Note me about it at any time. You can ask me about anything regarding Rocket Knight, really, no matter if it's about the differences of the Character Biographies, or the Stories. I'm always happy to help.

I totally agree with you! Cartoons have been dumbed down to ridiculous levels. As if clever humor is too much for people to handle these days, or dark-styled animation/storytelling in overall. I remember my time when I was growing up with shows like Gargoyles, Biker Mice from Mars, X-Treme Dinosaurs, Mighty Ducks, Batman, Spiderman... so many legendary good Cartoons (and Anime alike). Now we have stuff like.... Peppa Pig and other things where I think: "Why?!"
I hope it's not me that thinks that especially Peppa Pig is like... a show that explains nothing. I feel like the show teaches children that being impolite and acting like spoiled brats is totally okay, and there will be no consequences for their sh*t behavior at all. Or I'm just imagining things. I was watching a few episodes out of curiousity and really felt how my braincells were decreasing. And then there are the new revivals of shows like Thundercats (the upcoming one, not the 2011 one) and She-Ra... just... no... stop it! Don't ruin our beloved shows with dumbed down revivals. I prefer seeing those shows 'dead', but staying remembered as amazing written shows of the past.
You're very welcome, Danee. I'm always glad to help out whenever I can.
It's a real shame, but Konami just isn't Konami anymore... and no one will be able to change that. They're too greedy and arrogant/ignorant to see their wrong-doings. Some other companies had their downs as well, but at least they changed to the better. Such as Capcom, as example.
