This was an inking practice exercise. Recently, I have been viewing some very talented inkers on DA, and I was motivated to take a crack at something detailed in black and white.

After referencing the stag's shape from , the challenge was for me to fill it in with patterns from memory alone. After that tiny flower between its eyes, I decided the theme was to be forest. I did end up peeking though for the ear moss, the pine cone, the pine needles, and the antler texture . No sense screwing up the drawing by being stubborn!

The fastest way to get carpal tunnel is by drawing pine needles.

I used Faber-Castell india ink pens (0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm, 1.8mm) on card stock of a pretty low weight.

Thanks for looking!

Nature, both beautiful and repulsive.

You have so much patience it astounds me.

Wouldn't have it any other way .

This was a limit tester. Near the end of the session, I was tempted to speed up, but I knew it wouldn't be worth it.

It takes a different sort of patience/commitment to write stories with chapters, or to make webcomics though. I can't do either of those. My works needs to be able to be completed in one sitting, which limits the things I can create.

The textures here are great! And the concept is really neat as well~

Thanks Infinite. It was fun to do, but it tested my patience a lot! I also started at like 11PM and finished at 4AM, which probably had a lot to do with it XP

That's impressive though
I definitely don't have that kind of paitence, heh

You can build up to it! I mean, I don't have the patience to return to projects I start, while some people create epic things that way.

I've seen people say that they've spent 50+ hours on some of their work
That just blows my mind

Yeah, the deviant spends literally hundreds of hours on his small, but infinitely detailed, pen drawings. And he only uses six freaking Staples pen colors! He is amazing. He is only a hobbyist too, a lawyer by trade, which is so cool. He's a bit of an idol for me, lol!
