Self Portrait Self PortraitPhotoshop CS4, 8.5X11
Assignment for Photo Imaging I. Come up with our own photo manipulation. This is my first official photo manipulation, and i at least got something decent to turn in!
As i had to do a self portrait for Figure Drawing III and had a blank toned sheet of paper all set up, i decided to do this. Shot it in our home studio. I set up the shots, and Nancy took them for me. And then i put it together in Photoshop CS4 using what we had been taught in class.

Thank you! I got so mad at this drawing that i started throwing things at it! I never did get it right, and my professor said it was my best one!

This is incredible! First of all, your craftsmanship is excellent. You have really utilized photoshop well. The photos are well shot. You have achieved a great deal of contrast with little to no grain. Conceptually this piece is strong. I can tell you put a lot of thought into the details. (Like keeping both of you in the same outfit since you're only getting the back view of the non posing you.) If there is one thing that isn't working for me, it's the drawing of you. It still looks much like a photograph. If it isn't a photograph, that is amazing, but it doesn't work for this piece. I would try different methods of getting a sketchier look out of the drawing. Maybe you could erase part of it and have it look less finished.
Anyway, I'm hogging space on your comment wall. Great work, Dan!!
