It is difficult to decide from where to best approach a scene as striking as this. Whether from the overall impression of accomplished brushwork, or the gossamer detail, as the juxtaposition of viscera and glowing blossom. Mallows? Morning glory? Flowers beautiful to the casual observer, but an invasive menace to the gardener, growing almost fast enough for the eye to see. Even with the limited facial features one might glimpse a hint of resigned frustration on the creature's face, as if he is limited to moving as a growing tree does, having spent the better part of Summer labouring to extract the glittering garland.
In horror, few creatures are so truly horrifying as those which are also pitiful. Superb.
It is difficult to make out the details of the blackbird against the gloom, but - though the beak may be somewhat small, and the glow makes the eye appear larger than it is, making identification difficult - it appears to be a raven. A wise inclusion symbolically, lending an unmistakable touch of inhuman intelligence to a scene where it remains ambiguous whether or not the creature, the entity, in focus is or is not animate.
Well done.
BJPentecost , did you see this? Think it may be quite up one of your alleys.

A pleasure. It is not every day one comes across a scene that is equal parts from the absolute opposite ends of the fantastic spectrum: On one hand, radiant floral splendour - on the other, a being seemingly born from a desperate nightmare of medieval children.
