Ok, some of you already know...

A new amazing version of MB3D, still alpha but very usable, is out -> www.fractalforums.com/beta-tes…
You can now use eight formulas Andreas...

Other news;

Kali - Pablo Andrioli published the original source code of MB3D on the forums, check out if you are interested; www.fractalforums.com/mandelbu…

Knighty, an amazing guy at the forums, wa able to do a sorcery using its great skills; apparently it's possible to create Mb3D formulas using C!!! This will open the field for big innovations due to the ease of use of C.

Check out here; www.fractalforums.com/tutorial…
PAGE 2: explains NORMAL ESCAPETIME formulas!
PAGE 3: explains dIFS formulas!

This is important because I am unable to do some things in assembly but it's way easier in C!

So THANKS AGAIN KNIGHTY

Not so happy news - I can't upload here at Da. And you people?

This morning I had the same problem, it seemed I could not upload and I was like. Freaking. OUT. I mean, ZOMGZ
But my kind friend Barbara assured me that she could see my submission if it was clicked on.
I noticed the little + was still there when I hovered the mouse, and sure enough the image came right up when I hit that. Whew!!
Lots of deviants have been getting nothing but a blank square when uploading, Oh Dear What Can the Matter Be...
This dreadful issue PLUS the wondrous Big, Big News puts me in need of dark chocolate, like, yesterday...

Be careful chocolate is a caloric overload
you are so funny

Yes, chocolate in moderation is a superfood....must be why at 60 some people think I'm forty....mwhawhahahahah

High cocoa content chocolate is classed as a super food...in moderation of course

Woo! Hoo Just tried this one and it does seem pretty cool
and runs very fast and smoothly on my 64 bit windows 7
but still playing around with it and no harm just made
another MB3D folder with another MB3D and used that one
this is cool and moves about really fast but only a few formulas
can we add more to it yet and no color maps can add them

Great work you Guys dark-beam  and others i don't know yet
and thargor6  This is Cool.

dark-beam In reply to PaMonk [2015-04-14 08:01:33 +0000 UTC]

It's really practically same as before still

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PaMonk In reply to dark-beam [2015-04-14 17:04:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes so true while trying out yesterday I figure how to get the other formulas in there
and the Maps and it runs just like the other more formula slots now
but to me it ran very fast faster than my main one maybe a little to fast
but not going to complain have not saved a Images yet or parameter will try that soon

I did not see any slag what so ever runs just like the main one
Great work you Guy's all who Keep the MB3D alive.

I bet it is hard it would be for me i am bad with math and all

Very good and promising news indeed. Looking forward to see how it develops.

You can't upload at DA?!? Have to admit that in time, the process has become slower, cumbersome and annoying. So far, didn't have much trouble, but don't like it.

I know I was here already but My son say's try it so I will be trying this out
so will see what it is like so I will give it a try. i don't know know much
stuff about these thing's but son will help me out he say's
will use a 2nd MB3D to try it on okay.

dark-beam In reply to PaMonk [2015-04-13 16:52:37 +0000 UTC]

For now, it just has more formulas (not surely a minor thing as it was thought as impossible before )

PaMonk In reply to dark-beam [2015-04-13 17:12:09 +0000 UTC]

Oh but does it work well
my Son say's to give it a try Should I
I would like to see how it is so far I was worried at first
But my Sons says just try it on another copy
and just try it. so thats what i will do just to see
I will let you know how it goes will do in awhile.:

Okay then I can have them both that's what my son say's also
that's what I will do then
well i have one folder with many fractal programs will just there
and not in my main one in-case I boo something up

The Smallian? Ohhhh I'd love to!!!

Hahahah, but I cannot do C! I have VisualC++ something lying somewhere, never did anything with it!!!! And no C compiler, no idea about it... my mind is  (void)!!!!

dark-beam In reply to Sabine62 [2015-04-13 19:54:52 +0000 UTC]

hehe it's truly easy you just have to copy/adapt the script it's already done dear Sabine.
I deeply respect you btw, don't put always yself in the mud

Sabine62 In reply to dark-beam [2015-04-13 20:06:48 +0000 UTC]

Ohh I don't, but I really don't know anything about C! Oh please, my dear, don't worry, I really am only realistic and I find it all funny. I am very optimistic by nature! When I say: hey, I can program in basic... people laugh!!    It's not a very sexy language is it?? BUT: I also can (or at least I could, long ago) do LISP... Now THAT is a sexy language!!   Highly portable too! Used it in AutoCad a lot!
I will re-read those pages

The rebirth of M3D! Who would have thought!

dark-beam In reply to bib993 [2015-04-13 15:43:46 +0000 UTC]

Initially when I got my hands on the code, I thought it was a real treasure. And you can trust me because you followed the discussion on the mods forum

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bib993 In reply to dark-beam [2015-04-13 16:51:36 +0000 UTC]

I followed, but not that closely
In any case, the release of the source code is now a problem of the past. Let's see the bright side and look at the new potential for collaboration and improvement of the program by the most skilled and motivated fractal programmers.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dark-beam In reply to bib993 [2015-04-13 17:00:46 +0000 UTC]

I am not too optimist, because the code is very hard to comprehend and it was thought as non-expandable, the 6 formula limit was really hard to expand
My orig thought and wish was 32 because it would be a large do-once push, but I understand the difficulty. In my opinion a dev team adds confusion to confusion in this case.
Also looking at the mandelbulber situation almost nobody seems to help and it's relatively easy
I am not against opensource but sometimes it does not bring real benefit

Okay

Now I want to see a render of yours using 8 formulas - no 3d print - the old good way

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Bill-Snowzell In reply to dark-beam [2015-04-14 11:34:26 +0000 UTC]

8 formulas!!     I always use 2 or less unless tweaking someone else's

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dark-beam In reply to Bill-Snowzell [2015-04-14 13:28:26 +0000 UTC]

In theory it is not needed... but when you design difs stuff, formulas easily run out! for example try designing a room with a fractal inside
Same goes for decombos

bib993 In reply to dark-beam [2015-04-13 17:21:40 +0000 UTC]

I'm not a fan of multiple formula slots, more a purist kind of guy. I almost never used the 6 slots, except with some advanced DEcombs maybe...And these days I'm working on other projects in Incendia, but one day for sure I'll come back to the new M3D

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dark-beam In reply to bib993 [2015-04-13 17:52:22 +0000 UTC]

90% of my renders are single formula

you know i have this super modern gpu rendering engine i wrote in <= 2 days, which is totally ready to plug in distance estimators - but i have almost no working DE stuff (and little ability to make them myself yet), so it just sits around unused. kinda too should work something out here...
