Description (Please excuse my handwriting ><)

For those Monster Hunter fans out there that started with Freedom 1 or earlier, and was faced with the horrendous difficulty spike known as "Your first Kut-ku" syndrome, if, like me, you grinded the crap out of Kut-ku scales (Literally) in the patch of dung in forest and hills area 1 to make better weapons and armour yet found that even that wasnt enough and that you needed some other low level monster themed weapon to help you along... I present to you, the Kelbi Gunlance!

Better than the velociprey stuff that you were able to grind for but not as good as the Kut-ku stuff you will soon get... Except Gunlanced wern't in the original MH and Freedom1... Infact, it is currently impossible to upgrade because Blue Kelbi horns are only available in Tri, which didnt have Gunlances.

Attack is based on 3rd's multipliers (Not that i know very much about the meta game, its just that in 3rd, they've made it so its easier to compare different weapon classes rather than trying to figure out if a sns with 90-120 att is better than a GS with 900-1500 att). Second sharpness bar is for those with sharpness+1.

Well, in any case, this is for the weapon contest at

Kelbi and Monster Hunter stuffs belong to Capcom.

You forgot if it was either Normal or Long. I'll get to the info of the Kelbi Gunlance

(An Gunlance bearing of a Kelbi. An cooling Mechanism is built in the Kelbi Horns for using the Wyvern's Fire)

I love this!
If there was one thing kelbi's needed, it was firepower

What better for firepower than a GUNLANCE!!!

I think every monster should have at lease one weapon type from their materials, even these lil herbivores

Exactly
Kelbis don't get nearly enough use in the games :3

Indeed. At least they keep Narugas well fed and healthy

And without Nargas, where would we get the best armour?

Jungle had 3-5 Kut-Ku scales on the corner of the platform where you can get eggs... there's no obvious reason to search that spot because the texture isn't special, and there's no curious objects sitting there, but when I found out it was a great day for me as a newbie, being they sold at 250z a pop.

Wow, and i used to search dung and at a little rock at the entrance to area 2 of forest and hills. Of the two gathering spots, i'd only get 2 or 3 scales iirc

Also, after grinding velociprey, I still had trouble with kut ku, so I then started to grind on cephalos until I got their armor, and made myself the bone axe hammer somewhere in the middle of it all.

Me too, i went for some genprey stuff too. But i stubbornly stuck to a SnS at the time >< I sold all the other weapons you start with for money

here's the difference, I'm talking about my start in MH for PS2... you only started with ONE weapon. The first MH was seriously out for my blood >< Difficulty curve? more like difficulty wall.

Ouch I only played a demo of the ps2 version, yet i remember it gave me one of each weapon to try out so i thought the actual game might have started similarly too.

Yea the first kut-ku really captured what you had to do to win. Watch closely then attack instead of charging in and dying like an idiot XD

Indeed, it may have been difficult and frustrating, but it made you a better hunter

kewl O.O and i dunno about you but i got used to the game pretty darn fast xD so i was killin' kut-kus for scales. I didn't have to resort to dung searching O_o

DarkmaneTheWerewolf In reply to xglide [2011-10-18 14:16:04 +0000 UTC]

Heh, well i stubbornly stuck to SnS at the time and wasnt quite used to dodging, the distance of the jump slash and keeping green sharpness so as not to bounce off Kut-ku's shell etc. >< The old jungle area didn't help either.

I didnt get into greatswords until much later- post first Rathalos hunt! But i loved them ever since

Heh, i had a friend who was helping me with the game at the start and he told me where stuff was. But in my stubborness, i sold all other weapon types for money >< I never have money in MH games.

HAHAHAHAHA xDDD ouch lol. if i remember correctly, i sold my lance, cause i KNEW i wasn't gonna use it xD. otherwise i kept the weapons xD. but i have to say, later on in the game, you can get money really quickly xD. just do a easy rank 7 or 6 quest and you get lik 20k lolol. or do a akantor solo (which is dam easy xD)

DarkmaneTheWerewolf In reply to xglide [2011-10-18 17:15:17 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, I can be stupidly stubborn at times >< But i've since learnt how much fun it is to try out all the weapons . In 3rd i do the high rank Akantor quest for money all the time, i can usually do it in 10-15 mins if Akantor is being nice and i'm lucky, then sell the stuff i get too... >< I still have no money though because i now like to collect all the weapons of each type

xglide In reply to DarkmaneTheWerewolf [2011-10-18 17:51:28 +0000 UTC]

hahahahaha funny because that's what i started doing too xD. I started to collect EVERY SINGLE GS and LS after a while just to have them all xD. I actaully downloaded like a weapon tree and then branched off to everywhere. lol

DarkmaneTheWerewolf In reply to xglide [2011-10-18 17:57:15 +0000 UTC]

Me too! Well, i keep referencing weapon trees to see which ones i've missed and what i need to get to them and such I also have the most organised equipment box ever- for each page, i keep two weapon types on either side (eg, page 1, greatswords on the left, longswords on the right) and have completed ones on the bottom, incomplete ones on top sorted by rarity

LOL xDDD nice nice i just did the auto sort method that was usually good enough for me xD. But sigh..... so sad >.< I wish i still had my PSP T^T

That rings a bell now that you mention it My memory is terrible. Well, since you're in college, you could probably do without the distraction and without spending too much money eh.
