At the height of his fame Charlie Chaplin entered a Charlie Chaplin Look-Alike Contest...and came in 3rd.

I love how Halo built a frame for her balls instead of just deploying the real thing, and it's actually better articulated than everyone else's ballframes.

Well, except possibly for Masterchief there.Β  We can't tell anything about how the ballframe on that MjΓΆlnir armor is articulated.

C'mon Sydney. We both know it's cheating when you're actually Halo. Besides. I would have given it to the bearded guy if... Well if he wasn't a bearded guy. He made his GLOW!

Brilliant situation. But really not very surprising.

After all, Charlie Chaplain once entered a "Charlie Chaplain Lookalike" contest and came in second. ^_^

Actually Chaplain didn't even place, one of the judges actually told him "You look nothing like him."

What makes this funny is that this has actually happened at least once in real life. Guy who did the voice of K-9 on Doctor Who allegedly came in second in a contest he anonymously entered at a convention.

khamya9 [2014-02-05 16:11:30 +0000 UTC]

Given the rest of the female cast in the comic, I bet poor Sydney's even more upset.

But she should know better than to try and cheat like that anyway

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nerdnumberone In reply to khamya9 [2014-05-16 17:40:32 +0000 UTC]

I don't think there is ever an explicit rule barring a famous person from entering their own look-alike contest because fans like any opportunity to see the genuine article. Β For example, if a Brown-coat saw Captain Tight-pants himself at a Malcolm Reynolds look-alike contest, they'd just be excited he was there.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Sydney-fan In reply to Nerdnumberone [2015-03-07 23:59:49 +0000 UTC]

Yea, if I entered a Wolverine look-alike contest, I could justifiably be annoyed at not coming first, given how I am the spitting image of Hugh Jackman. Β Especially as I have the sideburns, whereas his are glued on.

But, if I turned around and saw that the first place prize had gone to Hugh himself, that would be awesome! Β I could earn free drinks for life, with that story. Β And without having to let everyone assume that I was somebody else.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

khamya9 In reply to Nerdnumberone [2014-05-17 09:34:04 +0000 UTC]

Except in this case, it appears Sidney is trying to avoid letting them know she's the "genuine article". Notice how she has her orbs leashed.

If she were openly competing as herself, they'd be orbiting. Thus I submit that she is pretending to be not-herself, and thus "cheating".

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MidnightDStroyer In reply to khamya9 [2015-02-08 20:28:15 +0000 UTC]

No, that's cosplay. She IS trying to fake it, even though she's the real thing.
