Bio
Oliver is a plucky and tenacious boy who attends Sodor Community College. His courage and determination stemmed from his incredibly harsh home life; his father was a working class citizen who was unable to secure a job to fully support the family and his mother was constantly incapable of managing three children on her own. Because of this, both parents frequently turned to drinking every chance they got, which caused them to act abusively towards Oliver and his two siblings, Isabel and Toad. Being the oldest, Oliver felt it was his duty to look after his sister and brother and to stand up against his violent and neglectful parents, which always ended with him being badly beaten as a result, but as long as the other two were safe he didn't mind. One day Oliver decided it would be best for him, Isabel and Todd to seek refuge somewhere far away from their parents and thus they tried to escape to the Island of Sodor, where the rest of their family lived. But being three young kids, they didn't get far before they exhausted what little supplies they had and found themselves lost in a giant scrapyard. Luckily, a resident of Sodor, Douglas McIntosh was wandering about there at the time and having recognised them as his friend Duck's cousins, helped them back to Sodor where after a slow recovery, they were welcomed with open arms by everyone. After their parents were found out and arrested, Oliver, Isabel and Toad where sent to live with Duck and his parents, where they received all the food and warmth they could ask for.
Despite his heroism and daring feats of escape, Oliver willingly admits that every day is but another learning curve. When he was new on Sodor, he let everyone's response to his courage and determination against his abusive parents get to his head and he became conceited, thinking there was nothing he couldn't handle. He was soon proven wrong when he landed himself in hot water with the Troublesome Truckers gang, who after beating him down, constantly mocked him at every turn. But later, with some encouragement from his siblings and lots of preparation, he challenged the leader of the Truckers, SC Ruffey Ballest to a one-on-one fist fight, which ended with him being victorious over the street thug, earning him much respect and admiration from the others.
Though Oliver's biggest hurdle was when rumours began spreading around that because he and Douglas were spending quite some time together; with him being much more chummy with the Scottish twin, that there was something deeper going on between both of them. This put Oliver on the edge quite a bit as both boys tried in vain to silence the gossip. With this new concept being on his mind, Oliver began to ponder on his true feelings on the matter; he had always liked Douglas more than his other friends, as he not only saved his life, but also the lives of his siblings, which he would be forever grateful for, but did it really stop at that? Knowing his best option was to tell Douglas about his revelation, he put on a brave face and explained to his friend about his conflicting thoughts, and that maybe he does indeed like him more. He was somewhat relieved when Douglas seemed to reciprocate his feelings on the matter, with the promise that there was no bad blood between them. Upon being asked by him if he'd actually like to take a shot at being a couple, Oliver took him up, and both have never looked back since then.
While he still has gumption, Oliver is very obedient, sensible and values his place on Sodor deeply. Though can still be occasionally boastful or temperamental at times, he is one of the most well-behaved and really useful students at Sodor Community College.
