Annnd.. this comes from me wanting to draw a lion that -wasn't- in the LionKing style you seem to see -every- lion/african pred draw in most of the time now.. so yeah.His body's not long enough x.X; I just can't seem to extend bodies how they should, even when I -know- they're longer.. it's a pain.. Ah well.
I like him well enough, bit plain n the background's crap n that one big yellow cheek bit's out of place as it doesn't flow with the rest but meh. Overall I like him so all's good.
I dunno if I'll have one of the 100 or one the lil dragons I scanned in up next *shrugs*
Anywho, done!

I love the style. LOVE it. But... (Sometimes I have trouble with this too) the head is too small. I mean, in porportion to the body and stuff. The back is a bit too short. But, if you fixed those, This pic would be on my fave's

Howdy there.
Just some random person passing through your gallery, (I saw your comment on someone's page), then this really caught my eye.
It's an interesting concept, I like how with a lion you can just extend the mane some, toy around with it and tah-dah, you've got a semi-elemental-esque creature.
*Cracks knuckles* Comments time.
Now firstly, I've got to say I love the general style used with this. It's really interesting and unique, somewhat realism-influenced. I absolutely love that eye. It's gorgeous.
The flames on the words are such a cute effect. Really well done on those.
And I love that shading. Somewhat... pixel-shading style, but it works so well on this picture.
This is really amazing, I love that pose, I can't draw lions for nuts, dangit.
There are just two things I'd like to point out-
1. Those ''hump'' like things on the inside of the lion's legs- are those meant to be dewclaws? If so, I believe that they aren't so... hump-like, you understand me? And should have some ''claws'', shouldn't they? Then again, I'm no expert on lion anatomy- heck, I'm barely an amateur, so I wouldn't really know.
2. Examine that lion's cheek-chin area. In that mane, I observed there's one part where the lion's cheek appears to have a talon-like extention that might have been a mistake when drawing the mane. Now I don't know whether this was intentional or not, but it looks rather odd, so you might want to clear it up a little.
And another thing...
It might just have been part of your lion's design, but the way the toes are alot paler than the legs and main body colour is rather strange, but yet really nice. In all, a really well done picture, deserves a favourite!

Thanks for the praise! As to the points.
1. Yeah, waaay oversized dewclaws. Habit of mine drawing them like that, not anatomically correct, ones on the front feet should be in a more thumb like position n not even see the ones on the back leg, so yeah.
2. If it's what I think you mean, I mentioned it in my comments. Yeah, it wasn't intentional, but by the time I was doing the colouring and such after having scanned it.. I couldn't be bothered changing it. This was like an ooooooold pic when I finally got around to scanning it and the colouring job was massively cheap, I just wanted to do some more colouring in that style at the time. I liked the pic so I chose him and did him in it. Anywho, as it was a pencil sketch I adjusted the brightness/contrast to get the black lines and I couldn't get that same looking lines with the tablet, I never bothered fixing it. Being a picture over a year old now.. nope, it's neva gonna change, this is what it is.
The toes bit I think was just going off the LK style and such how they have paler toes, so meh.

About the second comment- it's hard to point out, but I didn't really mean your colouring style... I meant how you seem to have part of the lion's HEAD fur in... never mind.

Nooo.. I know what you ment. The yellow fur from it's face goes down into the mane too far on the cheek. I couldn't be bothered fixing the lineart so it would look right. I remember messing about with it for ages trying to get something that worked, but it just looked wrong whatever way I did it, so I just left it like that. So yeah.

Wow, I love it! I can't draw animals, anthros, but not animals. If I ever did draw a lion, which wouldn't happen in forever, I could never be able to draw it in the LionKing style. Faving!

It's neat, I like how you did the mane.
And the 'net has a lot of good pictures of lions if you'd like to use a reference next time you try to draw one. References are helpful, since cats have funkier anatomy than you'd expect.

Yah.. net's good for lots of refs.. I just did him as a quick draw at my desk though when I couldn think of anything to draw, next time I think I'll use a ref or some such.. N yes, kitties are very neat.
