Description Joan of Arc, rallying her troops. The last submission reminded me that I meant to give Joan some better armour than I had previously . It's still some way from authentic, but at least that damned boob-plate armoured corset thing has gone. Replaced it with a breastplate from free3d. Other bits including the helmet are from the 'Nitro Knight Armor' by Mongoloid.

Not bad at all, and yes the breastplate looks good, and works very well with the Nitro Knight.

I wasn't sure whether to retain the more rounded pauldron I was using previously, which came with a fantasy 'Spartan' set (it would have needed to be duplicated for the other side also) or whether to go with the ones from Nitro Knight. The latter is what I ended up doing, though shortened so they don't stick out like wings. Decent pauldrons are hard to find, and a bit daunting to try to make.

My main staple for knights both male and female is usually this set: Knight Armor for Genesis 3 Female(s) | 3D Models and 3D Software by Daz 3D

It works actually better than the pictures suggest. Except for the helmet... I don't like it much. The breast plate conforms to the body so you can alter the shape by morphing the chest shape, but I agree that the plate you used has a more historical feeling to it.

Not too keen on that, the helmet's eye slit is too narrow. It looks like an armet for a cyclops. The pauldrons, faulds and tassets aren't very good either. Decent 3d medieval armour is hard to come by, it's mostly weird fantasy stuff. (The Daz Templar is nicely adaptable for anything up to the start of the 12th or 13th century, that said).

3d plate armour that bends with the figure (and thereby ends up looking like it's made of rubber rather than metal)- that is another thing that irritates me. I don't know why it wouldn't be simpler to make the plates as rigid rather than conforming pieces.

Yeah I got the templar, too. Good one that.

Great combination with the armor and helmet for Joan.

Oh Joannie oh Joannie the tumbrel and the pony
Through the ranks of the yeomanry steer
The gallows is cold and the gibbet is lonely

We'll make things hot for you here

Although she often surprised Army Generals with sound tactical suggestions, she was probably a very effective figurehead, crass perhaps, but a plate that made it clear she was female would have been advantageous in rousing the fighting spirit of the men.

It's what Princess Ce' Nedra did in David Eddings Belgariad, when she risked rousing the ire of a proud armour smith, asking for chest plate pounded out a little, here and here.
