People's egos and lust for power trump everything. Even God. That is why we fail.

Joan of Arc is one of my female heroes in history. Great job on Joan and the accurate sword and banner; and even if the armor is not accurate, it still looks good.

Ah, Joan of Arc, always reminded of the Blyth Power track 'Burning Joan' from the album 'Paradise Razed'
The lament sung by the amorous prison guard [after her capture], when he fails to engage the affections of the indifferent Joan.

That's a new one to me. Was there ever a jaunty little song with beastlier lyrics?

Not to my knowledge.
Another of my favourite Blyth Power track is 'Guns of Castle Cary', the story set during the English Civil War.
