It's a very nice close-up, or nearly a close-up. The details you can see are really inteesting. You don't have an opportunity to find many photos like that in here.
I like the expression on its little face - like it was silently asking where the heck did all the nuts go. 
I feel that there could be slightly more contrast applied for the little buddy to stand out a bit more from the grassy background.
Apart from that, well, I think everything looks fine.

This photo strikes me as a good one for a stock image, for example--getting a close-up look at the details of prairie dog fur and profile face--but artistically, I'm still waiting to see a little more edge to your work. What about this photo is something that you as an individual artist bring to it and that you don't see often in anyone else's photos?

This is quite lovely. I like the crop you used on this.
A few suggestions I have is maybe if you could have angled a little more to see his face/mouth/nose area. Also, maybe a little bit more contrast.
I really like the closeness of it, it gives a lovely portrait feel. You can see quite a bit of detail in him. Nice work

This one reminds me greatly of the dramatic (chipmunk) prairie dog meme.
The cropping and expression are just great, haven't got really much to say. I do like the reflection of sky in it's eye.

i love that the picture is a closeup (or if you cropped it, i love the way you cropped it) i think that the cropping is just fine. not too tight not too loose. the only thing that's missing is the focus on the subject. and the lower background could be a little tiny blur-er.

This reminds me of a picture my sister managed to catch of a gopher popping out of its hole straight in the face o_o Fast little buggers.
ANYWAY. I love how close up it is XD That must have took so much patients. I would have liked to see a big more of a side profile, because the grass sort of distracts from the Prairie Dog. Too much going on there. And if it just had a tinge more contrast, that would be awesome.

I see that two persons of Project Comment already commented here. I think the title is nice, because the close capture makes me think that this tiny animal could have been really close, but yes, you could probably use more imagination hahaha!
About the second comment, I have to agree. It would have been better to give a bit more "air" around the prairie dog to enjoy a bit more of green.
Having said this, I think the image is amazing. I don't recall having seen a prairy dog before, but even if I had, the focus is so amazing and his expression is showing such attention that it really captivates me. Every detail of his face can be seen, and look at those tiny ears!!!
Once more, a great photo in my humble opinion.

A lovely photo of an interesting animal.
I do feel it's framed a bit too tightly, though, mainly the sides more than anything. The expression is great, nevertheless, and the colours aren't too bad.
Perhaps it could be brighter and have more contrast, but it's not a bad shot, overall.
