So I’m a Winner Runner Up in the first Silent Manga Audition Contest run Comic Zenon.
The judges comment:
Second in line is the “Winner Runner-Up” Award winner,
dee juusan’s “a Pure Love”!
Here we have comment from the Comic-Zenon editorial team:
“The drawing performance was so strong it blew us away!
It was seen by many of us, as the best drawing of all entries.
Add to it the way panels are cut, and the facial expressions made us really feel as though we are talking to the rabbit ourselves. We feel potential that is ready to make it, right now on Japanese commercial magazines.
It made us wish to read not only one, but two, three or more works, by the author."

This is the best award and it came at a perfect time! I dunno how much I deserve from those words but I’m sure working to live up to them.
You can read the manga here . It will also be published in the September issue of Monthly Comic Zenon released in July 25th, 2013.

The first 3 pages from of one-shot; a Pure Love. [Right to Left]
I drew this one to participate in the Comic Zenon Manga Audition International Contest
I gave it all that I got and didn't hold back on details in any panel. It's a contest that requires a manga without words. They don't care about the story or the page count, all they want is performance And that's what I did.
I don't know if I'll share this online or not. For now, I'm just happy I was able to finish it ahead of time.

That was so beautiful. I kind of put off reading it until later, but now that I have, I do really agree with the judges that it's the kind of story you want to read over and over again.
And holy hell, you really did go all out! I was practically drooling onto my keyboard. What lovely art

This is probably my third time telling you congratulations but I swear this is just the coolest thing, and the judges really hit it on the nail. Your work showed a lot of emotion without even having to tell us. I'm always told to show not tell in terms of writing, and this is a prime example. So congrats again, Dee!

I am a huge fan of silent comics. They can be really hard to do right because so many people rely on dialogue to let the reader understand the characters thoughts and emotions, but when done right they are just as expressive, if not more so!
If this small preview is anything to go by, especially the characters look of mild horror and frustration in that last panel, I'd say you've done it right.
