A shout-out to , who found the ref for me.
First off, ALL THAT HAIR OMG.
...I'm okay now. But seriously, the spots combined with the texture nearly killed me. As always, I'm telling myself "Never again..." but I'm a sucker for a dramatic reference pic, so we'll see. 
Speaking of which, I've found I really enjoy drawing this kind of pose, but it's unbelievably hard to find good references. So, if you ever stumble across a pic - or take a picture yourself - like this or this ([link] ), please let me know! The ref I used does not belong to me: [link]

Thats so amazing the detail and everything is out of this world; but can no one see the pain the horse is feeling? Everyone tells me a bit is normal and it doesn't hurt the horse, but I can't see how it doesn't. I get harrased by know it all trainers for not using a bit, a whip, or even spurs, yet I can ride without all the head throwing and rearing. I don't get it. I guess it's just me and the way I was raised.

Honestly, I'm with you on the harsh bit thing. I've never used anything stronger than a snaffle on my own horses; I do use a crop from time to time when my horse starts to get sluggish with his transitions. I guess it really just depends on who is using the equipment - a strong bit in the hands of a gentle rider is just fine! The problem comes when people use hardware that they don't know how to use, and then end up hurting their horses.

It took me three years to get where I am now with my horses. I've only had horses for five years so I didn;t know what I was doing in the begining Heh. It always makes the best bond too

Dramatic pose is dramatic! But good grief, how long did it take you to draw all those spots and whorls? @_@ I really can't find a response to this pic because when I look at it, I can't even begin to figure out how you managed to draw this without going completely insane over all the details

It looks very good. I like the unusual angle of the picture and the facial expression of the horse (beautiful reference photo by the way^^).
