Description Yes, I have skipped a card. Temperance was giving me grief - mainly I hated it, and I'm pretty sure it hated me ... So I'm leaving that one out for a while, until I can think of a better image

Also I missed a few days (you may have noticed) in posting, because I was overwhelmed by the response I got for the Death card! Cor blimey, 84 Messages and 38 Comments! And I still haven't answered them all!

So, on to the Devil - You know you love it!

The weird thing about the Devil is that his ambiguous. He means both good things and bad things at the same time. This card says that you should learn to accept your base instincts and desires, but you also shouldn't be controlled by them. It's good to let go once in a while, but it can also be bad. Understand? No? Good.

She's a puppet - a slave - but she has the ability to free herself (hence the scissors). Yet she would be free, but also chained once more because she wouldn't be able to move. Get it? No? Sod you!

THE DEVIL: a lust for life, wild behaviour, unbridled desires, temptation, addiction and enslavement, obsession, losing independence, overindulgement
INVERTED: overcoming temptation, freedom from addictions, facing your fears, living in a more balanced state

I love the concept of making the puppet analogy with free will/constraints of our natures etc., a very original interpretation. Your tutors had better love your tarot series as much as we do. I think you have come up with some highly creative responses.

Heh - I hope so, but it looks like I won't find out what they think until next Thursday! Disorganised bastards

hmm... how come most cards have a good basic meaning, and a bad one when inverted, yet with the devil it's the other way around?

You've just answered your own question there

Seriuosly, it's because the qualities associated with this card can be viewed as either good or bad, depending on your point of view, and circumstance. Some people think it's good to let go once in a while - especially if you're usually a very reserved person. Others think it's totally bad and will never allow their base instincts to take over. And then there are those who think it's a good thing, but take it too far and end up becoming addicted. So the Devil is a very confusing card, upside down or rightways up

I like it!
It invokes thought.
Very well done, indeed.

you know what, without that explanation it would have been just a pretty picture to me.

Your concept (of her being a puppet who can free herself but then wouldn't be able to move) is very clever. But it's a little hard to understand it all by just looking at the illustration. Or maybe it's just me...

Even then, I think it's a wonderful piece.
You did an amazing job again.

And what was so bad about the Temperance?

No, it's probably not just you

Temperance was a really dull image. I couldn't think of anything at all so I had to just do SOMETHING - anything - in order to hand it in on time. Believe me, it's not very good, but I promise to upload a better version eventually

But don't think it's not good, please! I'm no saying that.

And will you do Temperance all over again?

No, no, it's fine

And yes, I will be re-doing Temperance and uploading it here
