Description Another piece of my "new phase" that I liked, though I got the idea for it from an anime, so it's working towards my happy medium of anime and realism mixed together.

If you know the anime, it's Yu Yu Hakusho and the idea behind the image is Kuronue's grave.

The creepy part is all my friends agreed I should put my name on the tombstone, so we did...but I refused to put a death date (that's just asking for trouble.)

So where there should be a deathdate is scratched out stonemarks, like somewhat wasn't happy with when they died, which (if you want to go along with the anime theme) is conducive to the anger and sorrow felt by the one burying Kuronue.

Not that I think anyone can see the name or the death date. I kind of also made it faint enough that no one could see it in the actual drawing even when you got reeeeallly close to it, let alone on a hosted image on DeviantArt.

Good luck and pleast leave a comment if you would!

Oh - this is a charcoal drawing (pain in my *** to erase when I messed up! but oh so wonderful for shading) done along my concentration theme of death.

Can my friend use your art for his Instagram

This is beautiful. I agree that charcoal is an everlovin pain and generally leaves telltale signs of where it's been erased. But I can't see any here, so you did well at concealing the places that you reworked.

I love the overall smoothness and the way the shadows are placed along the ground. Great work!

Yay! You noticed the shadows on the ground! *tackles* I love you! I posted this and was like "nooooooooo!" (emphasis on the over-dramatic cry) "you can't see them!"

You rock.

I miss you guys. *sigh*

lol Indeed I did. That's one of my harder things to keep straight on my own drawings since it pinpoints your light source. I also liked the mottled effect in between the shadows, because it gives it a more natural effect of light through the leaves above. I know what you mean though about the shading not coming through on all scans. Mines a particular pain in the butt and half the time I want to pitch it through a window.

We miss you too. When are you going to be out on this side of the country? It's a bit of a drive but you might not be tooooo far away for me to convince Tak to drive up for a day to hang out.

Ahh, I totally missed the second half of your post! I only read it after I replied. Ooops.

I'm moving September 15th I believe. If you give me a few days to get organized, one weekend in October would probably be awesome for a hang out day or something.

I'm a little nervous about it just because I don't know what my workload will be, but since it's only freshman year, I'm sure it won't be extreme (I hope!)

You must go through a lot of windows. ^.^'

*chuckles* I probably would if I didn't have to move rooms to find a window to throw it through. The one picture of mine you commented on is one that was tempting though. You can see the cheek shading where it abruptly cuts off. The printer was like, "Lighter shading? HA, that's what YOU think!" Evil thing.

I've relayed the dates to Tak and she's interested in visiting too. Just let us know when it gets closer and you're organized, what weekend might be best for you and we'll see what we can pull off. Tak works every other weekend, but I'm sure we can shuffle things around.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your workload doesn't swamp you. Koenma gets buried in paperwork often enough as it is

HAHAH!!

I'm sorry, I just got an image of Art School having me stamp papers....

Oh god, nooooo!!

That comment caught me completely off guard!!

Anyways, I'll let you know when I know a bit more about the schedule for school.

And my printer does the same thing only with the dark colors - it's like "smudges you thought no one could see? Hah, let's turn those into the pimple you thought wouldn't show up on that HD TV screen!"

-_-'

Actually, at Expo when we went to Masquerade, the cosplay contest, they told us, "guys, this is projected on two huge, HD TVs. The audience will see EVERY PORE."

They were just like my printer! Sucks.

*snickers* Be very afraid if they give you an assistant named Jorge and a big poofy hat to wear.

Sounds good. I'm sure there's somethings we can find up there that we can get into all sorts of trouble

See, that's why I'm afraid to actually participate in anything like cosplay contests and such. God only knows what flaws everyone will end up seeing on those huge things lol

Haha - I was so nervous they'd see the pin's in Konpachi's head. He was made to be...reversible in a way, to go from Kon to Konpachi! but the Velcro we put in wasn't enough (we found out halfway through the day) and I refused to use glue. It was supposed to be REVERSIBLE!! So I put pins in it. Luckily, no one seemed to notice!

They were astonished by Konpachi's awesomeness that the pins became invisible! I hear you on the safety pin issue though. Every time I had to take the Hiei costume off, I swore I was getting a larger and larger collection each time.

Hahah - that's okay, I opened up Koenma's "Pacifier Protection Container" *cough cough* sunglasses case *cough* and about twenty of yours and Blues multi-colored Safety Pins fell out, so I guess Hiei successfully turned Jr. into a thief.

But just a tiny one. ^.^

*snickers* I'd wondered where they'd gotten too. It's good to see that Jr. takes lessons so well. We'll have to see what else Hiei can teach him

For some reason, I totally took that as a challenge to write a fanfic. No idea why.

Hmm.

Charcoal is such a pain, I use black pen because I hate the mess that pencil leaves when you rub it out. The frustration is worth it, especially when it turns out like this. If you know the Asian film 'The Bride With White Hair', this lanscape is very much like some of the films images. Love it!

I really think your work is quite special, I've hardly ever seen figures contrasted with colour in that way. I think you'd quite like all of Tim Burton's early shorts as well as 'Vincent' and 'Edward Scissorhands' if you haven't seen it.

I have seen Edward Scissorhands but not Vincent. I'll look into it, however. I've always liked his works. They fit my particular tastes. Thanks for the mention and the comment, you're so nice!
