In my opinion, the greatest challenge to produce an outstanding photograph is the artistic ability (" the eye") to create something out of the everyday people, objects and landscapes that is captured and framed with the right amount of colour, contrast, texture that stand-out new and different, transmitting the viewer a mood or atmosphere that may match their own emotions or take a completely different path, hence the richness of creativity, so this photo greatly captures that something, in this case a door or a wood panel that even with its own decay and decoloration, has achieved a well defined balance of contrast and texture and opening our minds to see more than just a door, could be a canyon, a person walking by an old building, the last days of a glacier...it's definitely well captured and rich.

In this case, the white and ivory from the old paint contrasts galantly with the dark browns of the shards below and right, while the greys and shadowed whites bring a sense of depth.
Looking at this painting brings the feeling of wanting to do an abstract work inspired on this, or have a large colour print hanging over a minimalistic and modern decorated living room.
