In the early winter, when all the leaves have fallen, but the snow has not yet arrived, the Michigan Dogman, an American  werewolf-like cryptid, prowls the wilderness of northern Michigan.  The creature of legend was first reported in 1887 and has been sighted throughout the years.  It apparently appears every ten years on those years ending in the number 7.

Here is a new addition to my Cryptid series.  I learned of the Michigan Dogman while doing research on the Beast of Bray Road.  For this artwork, I was actually experimenting a bit on the scenery. Most of my art depicts lush forests, but here I decided to give a late fall / early winter scene a try.

Thanks for looking,

Daniel

Your state’s wonderful history prior to 1970 has been systematically buried under fifty years of contemporary garbage. Nothing both good and new comes out of Michigan anymore, I’m very sad to say, in the legendary sense. Ask your grandpa and I’ll bet ALL the kids were talking about Dogman when they got done reading “Tales from the Crypt”, and daring each other to go into the “spooky” part of the woods when he was ten.
