Description The Filipino name for what we call a butterfly knife. Bali-Song... Bali-Sword? Feels that way!

This is one of those things you can hand to people and they'll start giggling hysterically.

Fun project. Details on request.

Possibly. I'm contemplating re-working the grip a bit. As it is, it's very bulky, and frankly a little uncomfortable in the hand. As it is, it's a lot of fun to play with, but not particularly fun to actually use.

What I would do is carve out the center/sides to expose the center of the blade, which would make the handles for a sort of I-shape when open -easier and more stable to hold. If I do that, I would bring it up to a semi-mirror finish. And probably remove the home-made rivets and install professional butterfly knife barrel hinges. =/

But at the moment I'm only contemplating it. This is a "finished enough" project, I've moved on to a few others.

dude, you don't stab someone with a blade that wide, you impale them, daaaaaaannnnngggggg, i am curious about how you put it together as well as the dimensions of the knife, thanks

hee hee. More like lay them open.

It's 6" closed, 10" open, with the blade being 4.5" long and a solid 1.5" wide. It's a freaking monster.

I made it because I was sick and tired of seeing dinky little stiletto blades on butterfly knives. Worse, *single edged* blades! The point of the bali-song is to be able to safely carry a double edged blade in a folding knife. If you want anything else, pick another knife!

I was inspired by my old boss, an old Filipino guy, who told me stories about how almost everyone made their own bali-song back in the Philippines. I figured if he could, I could too. I ground the blade out of a blank -just because I was tired of forging blades at that point- and folded the grips out of 1/8" plate. The rest was trial and error.
