Description
Today, I was taken down to the expansive Sinnoh Underground. Apparently, it spans across the entire region, I don't know about that, but it certainly is large and impressive. While down there, I saw an impressive fossil of a long extinct pokemon, Rampardos. I'd only ever seen artistic depictions of them, and now, seeing its skeleton, I can say it looks as impressive as those renderings. It truly seemed like a fearsome beast!
#409 Rampardos
While many fossils have recently been able to be "revived," without seeing them in the wild, these formally extinct pokemon remain, for the most part, a mystery to researchers.
In the case of Rampardos, it is theorized that their thick cranial plate (which measures on average to be 12" or 30.48cm) were used as a method of self-defense against predators, and in clashing with others in displays of dominance.
Additionally, there's also evidence to suggest that their skull caps were used to knock down large trees to make tests and to mark territory. Lending credibility to this theory is that around many of the fossilized remains of Rampardos and Cranidos is the presence of fossilized fallen trees.
