Description The Saints Archangels: Michael is the Angel of Mercy, and Gabriel is the Angel of Justice. Let mercy and justice prevail in the world, united in the bond of pure love.

Saint Michael is the "Prince of the Heavenly Host," the leader of all the angels. Saint Gabriel, whose name means "God's strength," the main God's messenger. He is described in ancient texts as a punishing angel, the angel of revenge and the destruction of evil.
St. Michael on the contrary, the most merciful of all angels. He is infinitely kind and forgiving, and it was thanks to his great compassion that he became the head of all heavenly powers.

This is intensely delightful to look at, so emotional, so peaceful, so beautiful!

I'm reminding of what you told me about Michael's tears... so emotional, it makes my heart flutter

Beautiful seraph... I'm quite sure out there, far from earthling sphere, there are elevated spirits of pure energy and love... some of us like to call them angels...

Thank you so much! Quite right, elevated spirits of pure energy and love, not desecrated by vices and lusts, eternally staying in the blissful contemplation beauty of the Most High and caring for the world...
It is so difficult to imagine such a being, but it is.

I thought the same as DreamyNaria, I grew up with that same vision of St. Michael as the punishing angel and St. Gabriel as the messenger.
At least in Roman Catholicism, the religion I grew up with, St. Michael is always depicted in paintings and statues with the Roman armor and killing the devil (I have a little silver medal and some votive candles with the classic Guido Reni painting). And almost any painting of St. Gabriel is about the Annunciation or just him holding white lilies and looking very sweet and gentle.
But according to how they are described in the Bible, the way you described them here makes a lot more sense! I remember St. Gabriel temporarily punished Zacharias (Luke 1:11-20) for impertinently questioning him. And the story you mentioned about Michael and Satan's dispute is mentioned in the Epistle of Jude (Jude 1:9).

And now to the art itself, I'm so glad to see St. Michael again! Both him and St. Gabriel! Like I had already said, I love the way you draw the angels because they always look so delicately beautiful and so dignified. Lovely work as always and thanks for sharing the information as well ~

Thank you very much for the comment!
Each angel has a merciful and punishing function, even Satan (according to Judaism and other teachings) has a merciful and kind function
But still there are angels who are more responsible precisely for mercy, and others are for punishing function.
I realized long ago that not everything that artists depict is correct. Often artists pick up ideas from the painting of other artists, and to study themselves they are lazy.
But I'm trying to learn the material that I'm depict

I thought the opposite because Michele is always shown with the armor while killing the devil,
it is said that he is the angel who fights the devil. I thought he was the angel of justice and Gabriel the messenger.
Anyway i adore the gracefulness of the bodies you draw!
they make me think of Greek statues

Thank you! Yeah, Greek statues is awesome ^^

Michael defeats the Devil not by sword and strength, but by his infinite patience, kindness and compassion. In the story of the dispute between Michael and Satan about the body of Moses, Michael did not insult and did not fight with Satan. He simply said: "Let the Lord judge."
If we look into the ancient Hebrew texts, we learn that Satan and Michael do not fight with each other, but rather are connected by common cause. Satan records all the sins of a person and shows them in the heavenly court to condemn the person to hell torment. Michael writes down all the good and kind deeds of person, to protecting him. And if there are more good deeds, then the soul goes to Paradise. If the sins turned out to be much larger and heavier, then Satan takes the soul to Hell.

Satan (his angelic name is Samael, while Satan describes his function as an accuser, Samael is considered to be his proper name) is the angel of death and the prince of the power of death. He has all power in the physical world. He also performs a punitive function. And in this way he is similar to Gabriel. But Gabriel does not accuse a person, but he simply fulfills the command of God, if he has to punish someone in justice. There is Gabriel destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the anger and hostility of the inhabitants, this he pushed the sea, drowning the Egyptian army of the pharaoh.

There are still many different subtleties in ancient angelology, I'm still studying

Yes Greek statues because of the graceful movements, the poses and to the softness of the bodies.
They are not too skinny like the modern fashion. Then they have got the greek nose.
How many things you know!  I alway seen Michael in the armor with the sword.. he doesn't inspire compassion there
How do you know all these things? Are you Jewish or Christian?
I did not know the real name of satan

I like the ancient Greek statues, especially the depictions of the gods, they are very beautiful and differ from modern art by more grace and beautiful poses

Aw, thank you
Not always what artists depict is true and corresponds to reality ...
For example, Lucifer is the most beautiful angel, but no one draw him in that way.
I think that to love God, angels and respect the prophets is not necessarily to be someone... Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Hindu and etc, it's not so unimportant. But to have patience and diligence in a pure heart, to be kind, to follow the simple rules of morality that are fundamental in all religions -- is necessary.
