I think what he was trying to do is a battle between fighting styles. I mean Heihachi, Kazuya and Jin are using Mishima styles but with the latter two changing their styles but still remains the Mishima style...sorry I don't know much about Tekken so that really cant be helped. But back to the picture, the same applies to Gouken Akuma and Ryu. Gouken and Akuma learned from Gotetsu, I believe was Gouken and Akuma's master before Akuma killed him with the Shun Goku Satsu. After the incident, Gouken had taken in Ryu as his pupil before Ken came in. Anyhow the same can apply for Kazuya as he defeated Heihachi and threw him done the same place where he was thrown by Heihachi who originally taught him the Mishima style. And both Gouken and Heihachi respectively taught the new generation ( Ryu and Jin) their fighting styles but in Heihachi's case was forced to teach Jin. In anycase, for pitting up Gouken vs Heihachi is like using a good vs evil type of thingie. I sure that you know as well that Akuma and Kazuya both embraced their demonic sides while Ryu and Jin struggles to fight it.

"Using a good vs evil type of thingie" - is exactly what is wrong with it! Following the pattern to the end it looks very irrational to square of Gouken and Heihachi, instead of M.Bison and heihachi, while square Gouken with Jinpachi...Besides aside from some obscure backstory of Heihachi being a mentor for Jin, it is still a very unpopular and uncommon knowledge and would require more than average joe fan to find that out, while in case with Gouken and Akuma/Ryu it is common amongst most of the fans! The situation with Heihachi and Gouken is very different! Heihachi is evil, while Gouken is good, Heihachi from game to game is rarely ever mentioned or acknowledged as a mentor and almost never make characters refer to him as such, Namco never really show him in that light enough to make him fall under "mentor" category! So he falls better under "Regular Evil Boss Mascot" category, since it is what he's better associated with! You won't find many people talk about him as about Jin's mentor, much more people remember him as an evil and ORIGINAL Tekken boss! Exactly the same as M.Bison! Even their backgrounds are similar (except that M.Bison was never a mentor to anyone...he only uses other people to manipulate them...But that is different story...) As for Jinpachi vs. Gouken and why it is better match? Its because both Jinpachi and Gouken initially Good characters (when Jinpachi is not possessed with demonic power!), both are mentors to central characters/protagonists/antagonists and associated among many fans as that!...here's my logic of it...you may agree or disagree...

Might as well agree since your mostly correct. But I think that Jinpachi should face off against both Akuma and Gouken's master because they were the first ones who used their fighting style after all. Let's just leave Gouken and Heihachi out of this shall we?

It's about 5 years, I know, but Jin IS in Street Fighter X Tekken (and will be in Tekken X Street Fighter).
Besides, both SF and Tekken share universes now.
