Wow! This is actually really helpful! I'm still a little confused on how you decide the layout of the panels and such with regard to the dialog, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

I'm glad this helps to some extent. For me it comes down to what needs to be shown, and the amount of space I have to show it. With Oz, you could go on forever and show every nuance. That's why I limited myself to eight issues, I love Oz but there are other things I need to do!
As far as balloon placement goes, it can be a chore. While its a good policy to include them, at the size I do my thumbnails, they just get in the way. It help to have your script pretty much fleshed out ahead of time. That way the dialogue is running in your head the whole time. Its easy for me, I'm adapting a book, most of the work is done!
