Oh man... that picture is awesome. It's so emotional and passionate and sad and wishful all at the same you. You did wonder. I would have loved to meet Dogman. I mean... wow.

Everything about this image is important -- the eyes looking downward, the closed fist, the slight trace of a smile (or perhaps it was the twist of a mouth feeling sadness). There is a sense of compassion and determination in his face, and the capture is wonderful. I'd be happy to see all 60, but whatever you choose to share would be great. Welcome back!

I think it's the commonality of our humanity that people react to. We see ourselves in a photograph. And the visual seems to cut through all the intellectual layers that screen us from the experience. I said to someone today that if the American Revolution were now, Tom Paine would have to be a photographer or a film maker. Words alone, and I say this very reluctantly, just don't seem to have the same power as the visual image. As a committed lover of language, I think this borders on the tragic, but cannot deny what is so obvious. As for your soon-to-be-realized gallery, just let me know when you're ready for visitors. I'm glad the trip was such a source of good work, and I'm sure your family is really happy to have you home.

About the joys of family, what was great to read in your message is how much you appreciate what you have with your kids and that "fricken bomb" of a wife. I know (and they tell me when I look super-desperately needy for recognition) that I did a good job raising my kids, but they are grown and there can be no more of those incredible moments like the one you related about your 4 year old rushing to the door. Those are the everyday stuff of life and I think it's great that you are understand how wonderful it is. As for your wife, I agree that she is a fricken bomb.

Yes, there is definately a feeling of energy from this photograph of Dogman, that seems to make him come alive in this.
Very nice job
