"W-w-wha... Huh?" Rainbow stuttered. She just got a big envelope by mail with the picture of the well known Wonderbolt who was also her friend and co-worker. "W-why he would send me picture of himself?" She couldn't let her eyes away in the same time from the sauciness and the surprise of the pic. She shook her head to clean her mind and looked into the envelope for more content and found a single paper. "I.... I think about... y-you? Signed... You know who? What the hay Soarin'?"
She put the pic, paper and envelope on a small table and began to trot forth and aft. "Why he sent me this? Does he... Nononono! We are co-worker, we fly as Wonderbolts.... nothing else." She crossed her forehooves and closed her eyes in thought. But she glanced again at the pic. "Does he... really... like me? I.... I kinda saved him a couple of times already... but... He would have be more subtle. I never saw him showing me any interest. Even after my Rarity impersonation..." She sighed and walked into the kitchen. She went to the sink and pour herself a glass of water, gulping it down as quick as she filled it. She let another sigh. "I guess I'll have to tell him myself I'm not interested."
She walked back to the table and took the envelope in her hooves and she was about to check for the sender's address, she froze. She realized something was wrong: the sending address. It was for Spitfire!
"What the hay? I can't believe this! Even the city address?" She groan. " Seriously Derpy?" She chuckled. She felt somehow a relief. "Wow! And I felt the he was into me." He laugher nervously. But, followed by some disappointment. "Still... I saved his hide several times. He could have at least invite me for a hayburger or two." She took another glance at the blue pegasus." She shook her head again to clear her mind and put all the content back into the envelope. "Damn it! It gonna be hard to look at him without blushing now." I better bring that to Spitfire myself or...
She froze. "W-what Spitfire will think about this? She might ask me if I check! What should I do? What should I do?" She kept staring at the mail. Then, a idea struck her. "I should destroy the evidence. But how? I don't have a fireplace. Mmmm. I got it!"
She took the envelope, flew out by a window and headed for Twilight's castle. Once there, she called the only one who had what she wanted. "SPIKE! WHERE ARE YOU?"
"I'm here, Rainbow. What's going on?" He was cleaning the floor, a mop in his claws."
"Can I ask you for a service?"
He sighed and "What kind of service?"
Dash showed him the envelope. "Burn this."
"Huh? What is it?"
"Uh... S-something I want... get rid of?"
"Like what?"
She was growing impatient and groaned. "Just... burn it, okay?"
"Whoa! Whoa! Okay! Jeez! But you must know by now that I...."
"Just burn it!"
"Okay." He took it from her hooves and burned it with his eldritch fire. "There. Happy? But liked I was trying to tell you..." She was already gone.
The next day at the training ground, Rainbow Dash tried her best avoiding the stallion. "Hey Das-" She flew away at every occasion he tried to talk to him, for the awkwardness it would bring her. She found a good spot to hide behind a building, letting a relieved sigh. She then overheard a conversation between him and Spitfire close by.
"Hey, Spit..."
"What do you want Clipper?"
"Have you received my... little... package?" He said while wiggling his eyebrow. Dash froze.
"What package?"
"Well... you know?"
"No, I don't know."
"The... ahem.... the picture?"
"What picture?"
"What? The one I sent you!"
"Huh? I received no picture of... Wait! You sent me a picture of...." She was cut off by a stallion.
"Sorry Captain Spitfire. But Princess Celestia sent us this strange message for Soarin'."
"Huh?"
"It says simply.... Dear Soarin', I'm very touched, but I'm not interest. I'm hoping for you to find the mare of your dreams. Signed Princess Celestia. P.S Don't ask poor Spike for sending your personal mail. It was awkward enough to receive this while being in court."
"W-what? I-I-I haven't sent this to...."
"There is also this envelope for Spitfire." Soarin' froze when he recognized it. He gave it to the captain, but her curiosity took her and peeked into it. She blushed and glared back at the blue pegasus. She then send back the messenger back to his post.
"Well..."
"What?"
"Uh... Ain't you... a bit..."
"You realize that the princess saw this, do you?"
"Uh... M-maybe she... like it and... tried to be... polite?"
"Go train Clipper. We'll discuss later." The poor stallion, a sad look on his face, flew back to join his group. Dash had a hard time to retain her laugher. "Sorry Soarin'." Then realization struck. "Oh no! It's my fault! W-what should I do?" She flew from her spot and approached the sad stallion. "Uh... Soarin'? I-I'm sorry." And flew to get in position.
With a confused look, her followed the mare with his gaze. "What was that about?" He scratched his chin with a hoof. "Hmm. M-maybe Dash?"
Wonderful work. He looks very cute there. Hard to resist the temptation to hug him.
