Description
Hey, everyone! Two deviations in one day (though of course unintentionally)! It's time for the next arc in the KCU, Rodan! Conveniently swooping in just when the trailer comes out (speaking of which OH MY GOSH THE TRAILER IS ABSOLUTELY FLIPPING AMAZING!!!!!!). My incarnation of Rodan is based mostly on pterodactyloid pterosaurs, but I have given her (yes, my version of Rodan is female) the colours of the original, the crests and chest plating of the Final Wars version and pink fur (which was originally intended to be red but came out pink). With all that said, on with the show!

Rodan by Ishiro Serizawa
Rodan is a gigantic pterodactyloid pterosaur, belonging to the species Vulcanodactylus Asoensis. She is believed to be the last of her kind and was discovered when she burst out of Mount Naka, one of Mount Aso's peaks. The giant pterosaur quickly claimed Aso Kuju National Park as her territory, forcing the authorities to evacuate everyone within the immediate vicinity. Rodan's initially aggressive and territorial nature made it hard to study her, but some highly stealthy investigations were able to glean some information about her. Firstly, Rodan has a height of 47 meters and a wingspan of 265 meters, making her one of if not the most largest creature to ever fly, her only being capable of doing so due to her hollow bones and bird-like lungs. Rodan marked her territory through scent marking (AKA the pleasant act of urinating around the entirety of Aso Kuju to show she ruled the place). The giant pterosaur's scales were incredibly heat resistant, allowing her to survive the KT extinction through hiding within a younger Mount Naka. Rodan is also the fastest Kaiju we have on record, capable of reaching speeds of up to mach 5 and creating sonic booms. She can also fire a beam of uranium plasma from her mouth. She creates this through creating absurdly high temperatures within her own body, super heating an internal uranium supply also inside her body into scorching plasma. However, Rodan's speed and heat resistance do not mean she is as durable as other Kaiju. Rodan made her lair on Mount Taka, another peak of Mount Aso, and created a bed out of the trees and boulders of the environment. For a while, it was unknown what Rodan ate. However, we soon learnt she was a radiovore, feeding off the radiation of her internal uranium, and a species of giant dragonfly known as the Meganula...
Rodan Awakens by Ishiro Serizawa
On one cloudy day of March 2020, Aso Kuju National Park, Japan, had only a few visitors. This was fortunate, as the evacuation in response to the events that took place on this day had few people to deliver away from the area. At around mid-morning, Mount Naka, one of Mount Aso's peaks, promptly exploded. It could not have been an eruption, as Naka contains a lake rather than lava now. But there was still danger afoot. Boiling water from the lake ran down from Naka's slopes and rocks were sent flying into the air. The evacuation, fortunately, was swift. The evacuees left just in time to see a reddish-brown creature with enormous wings burst from Naka's caldera. This was the cause of the explosion, a massive pterosaur that had long slumbered within Mount Naka and had just awoken. The creature was soon christened Rodan. The giant pterosaur took over Aso Kuju, scent marking the area through urination. Aggressive and territorial, the flying beast destroyed anything that attempted to enter the area, as a group of stupid teens soon found out. Aso Kuju was soon made inaccessible, except for a small group of MONARCH's stealthiest scientists. They entered the park to study Rodan, and were lead by journalist Steve Martin, who was also involved in the Area 51, Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and King Kong vs Godzilla incidents. The group trekked up to Mount Taka, another one of Aso's peaks which Rodan now called home. When the team arrived, they discovered a nest-shaped bed formed out of Aso Kuju's boulders and trees. Rodan was in another area of the park, so they had time to study the bed's intricate walls. However, the ground suddenly started trembling. Within seconds, an enormous, brown insect burst from the ground. The creature was a gigantic dragonfly nymph. The beast opened its frothing jaws and gave a dry, rattling hiss. Soon more nymphs erupted from the earth, snarling and hissing. The MONARCH team were forced up against the nest's walls as the nymphs closed in, hissing in anticipation of the kill...
