Yes, I think an eel or giant catfish is much more likely.

Then it most likly exist an like the gorilla the "Magic Bone" stuff is just myth. they say the same thing about the hino's horn and the Eelephant's tusk.

I thought of that as well, there are definitely some big enough. Seems odd that they'd get a serpentine form out of it, though. Maybe that part's actually stemming from the mythical side of the story?

Well some Catfish are long and slender... I mean Electric Eels are actually catfish after all lol.
