Don’t look it in the eyes, ya fool, it’ll kill ya if ya look it in the eyes! Just one look and- what? Where are the eyes? Well bloody Hell, how should I know?! I wasn’t ‘sposed to be lookin at em!

Clan: Kivuli

Movement type: Charge. Hold X to continuously rush forward. Precise control is lessened and you cannot block or attack while charging, but move faster than normal and damage everything in your path. Charge ends when you release X, run directly into a wall or enemy Legend, or are intercepted by a heavy attack.

Roar Effect: Petrify. The most hideous beast on the continent raises it gruesome head high and blindly stares into the souls of sinners and saints. All nearby Legends are stunned. Allies flinch but enemies are made vulnerable longer. Very long cooldown time.

Active Special: Datura Haze. Every toxin in creation lies somewhere or other in the guts of the Catoblepas, but when it opens its mouth they all come pouring out. The Catoblepas raises its head and opens its mouth, letting a poisonous fog seep out. It cannot block, charge, or attack while using Datura Haze but is free to walk around, spreading the noxious clouds everywhere it goes. Enemies who enter them have limited vision and are inflicted with a very severe poison that causes damage over time. Allies also have a hard time seeing but are otherwise spared. Long cooldown time.

Passive Special: Feculent. The Catoblepas wallows in filth and feeds on poison, laughing at death and disease. It is completely immune to negative status effects. Its stats can still be debuffed and it takes full damage from energy-based attacks, but lingering afflictions like poison, fire, and bleed do no additional damage.

Light attacks: Bites and burp

Heavy attacks: Neck swipes and tusk uppercut

Grapple: If the Catoblepas catches its enemy offguard with O or wins a clash (O and the enemy also grapples or blocks) it will shove them away with a swing of its long neck, turn around, and then crush them flat with its tail.

Defense Type: Block. Hold L1 or R1 to block.

Huge, slow, and sturdy, The Catoblepas is undoubtedly one of the most effective- and repulsive- tanks in Age of Aether. This cumbersome titan has an incredible reach and soaks up damage like a sponge, even able to wade through the elemental special attacks of other Legends while its fighting. Its raw physical output isn’t as high as some other Legends in its weight category, but with Datura Haze it can more than make up for it. The noxious clouds it creates make decent traps and better deterrents, effectively able to block off Control Points and health pickups or separate enemies from their allies.
