I think I'm nearing the final design for Ida and she's never been colder.I've changed a lot of things in the story. One of those things is giving Ida blue skin?!
Yes, you heard right, I might give the lovely snow queen light blue skin.
I've officially decided that Vivendale (the Kingdom in the story) has a long foretold prophecy that states that "a heart of ice will reign over the Kingdom."
Since Ida is born with blue skin and icy powers, everyone assumes that Ida is the heart of ice and that she is the prophecy. Because of this, everyone avoids Ida and fears her for what she might be capable of, causing her to feel unwanted and unwelcome in her own Kingdom. She constantly tries to show everyone that she's normal and that she's isn't the heart of ice they all says she is.
I might have decided to give Ida blue skin because I think it will make her more interesting and feared by everyone. Everyone judges based on appearances and ironically enough, it's the villagers own faults that Ida turns against them and curses the Kingdom.
She's not pure evil, but Ida will now be more devious and vengeful on the Kingdom. She basically wants to give them the same isolation that she had to live with for so long.
I am also trying to incorporate fur into her attire since I think it suits her devious side and looks nice up against her blue skin.
I also can't really decides what hair color she will have, but it's between blonde, white, black, or blonde.
So, what do you think? Do you like the story being set up this way? Do you like the blue skin idea? Should her hair be blonde, white, black, or blue?

I'm still working at her design, so this isn't official, but she will be officially blue and that back story will stay about the same with a more minor adjustments at most.

I did see that picture of yours and I found it interesting.
I'm sort of taking a different direction this time around with her design.
I think her outfit is going to reflect traditional Norwegian fashion just like all of her other outfits do.
The simple set up for any outfits that Gerda and Ida wear will be some type of shirt, a skirt, and a corset/bodice/vest.
In my story, the people of Vivendale prefer Spring over Winter, so the rosemaling (rosemaling is the traditional embroidery that's seen all over the outfits and all over Norway if you didn't know) reflects a more floral side of the Kingdom. The villagers prefer to wear warm colors. Gerda is included in this group of people.
However, unlike everyone else, Ida prefers winter. She's still got floral patterns along her outfit, but there will also be a hint of winter in them as well. Her color scheme will also be more colder with only hints of warm colors.
Over her childhood, Ida's color scheme gets colder and colder and you begin to see less and less warm colors.
When Ida leaves the Kingdom, she wishes to completely disconnect herself from Vivendale and act and starts a new. Having said that, the rosemaling withing her outfit goes entirely icy. I think I want to play around with the fact that snowflakes are six sided and carefully structured. Her color scheme would go completely cold without any traces of warm colors. You also see a looser side of her by this point I believe.

I also thought fur would suit her now since she's actually going to go even more into the dark side than I originally planned (if you want to know more about that "dark side" just note me .)

I think she'll have this hairstyle throughout the entire story. Originally she had a drastic change in her attire, but now everyone knows about her, so I thought I'd let her cold side show a bit more.

Definitely not a smurf blue. I pictured a lighter blue and maybe even a pale purple.

Wow, she looks so cool like this! I love how her design has evolved. This ones got a really unique look to it. I love her hair and expression, and the fur really gives her the regal look.

I think we're finally starting to see Ida's evolution settle down and get closer to the final design.
I thought that spiky hair could help show her cold nature and how she's got a bit of a problem with controlling her temper. I also tried to give her this sassy "oh really?" face since she'd be really cold by this point in the story.
I think I've decided to add fur to her design since that's how the snow queen is described in the original tale, and Gerda is also planned to wear a fur coat, so it also might be a style thing in the Kingdom.

The blue skin idea is something that has been floating around in my head for a white, but I never thought I'd actually use it.
I think either a light blonde, dark blue, or black might work.
