love the way the long exposure smoothed out the water so much!

i'm looking to do something similar... where abouts was this? i've driven all around the Isles and Canary and couldn't find a good place to get close to the water and not be harassed by security! Care to enlighten me?

Great pic!

Wonderfully done photo here; however, the one pole in the front is slightly bothersome to me. Excellent shot, otherwise.

great picture too
what do you mean by : "FlashGun Sb-800" ? i know that the sb800 is a flash (that i definitely want to buy) but is it just an expression ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to lordgonz [2005-06-19 23:18:15 +0000 UTC]

Its just my term refering to my flash unit cos it looks like a gun and I use it more often handheld (like holding a gun!)

Very nice photo . I only have one curiosity, the photo's info is correct? 30 seconds of exposure?ΒΏ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to lujop [2005-06-19 11:58:16 +0000 UTC]

That's correct coz I have to use small aperture for this

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lujop In reply to djoel [2005-06-19 14:45:49 +0000 UTC]

Mmmmm, my curiosity is expanded. There is something that escapes to my limited knowledge of photography . Why you use a so small aperture in this photo? And what's flashgun, it's a flash?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to lujop [2005-06-21 00:42:26 +0000 UTC]

I used small aperture to enable me to use my flashgun (flash) multiple times (3 times in a sec) aimed at shadow area... Its just my experiment, I tried many different combination and this one is the best

I nearly didn't even look at this one, as i absolutely hate BMW's; every other car in my town is a beemer and it's a company car... The people that drive them (and this isn't directed at your friend, as he owns his) seem to be arrogant twats with no consideration for other road users, or pedestrians for that matter! That turned into a bit of a rant didn't it!?! Sorry lol.

Now that i have looked at it though, i can say that i am amazed! Everything from the composition to the clarity is absolutely perfect... Pro job m8!

Excelent composition and the lighting is stunning!

Can't help feeling that the bollard on the right detracts from it, had it been against a straight bit of fence i think it would have acentuated the front of the car better.
I assume it would be difficult to get the lighting so nice when it's closer to the street light?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to geekster [2005-06-19 11:03:56 +0000 UTC]

the street lights blown out any highlight details previously... I compensate it by using small aperture and underexposed it plus using flasg gun to 'fill' the shadows...

Thanks for the feedback!

You work is really amazing. the only thing I would recommend to fix, is to remove the glare from the light (right in the middle, above the building) and the front wing looks like a bit overexposed. The rest is brilliant. Keep shooting!

I think this is perfect - it reminds me of some of the newspaper advertisements for BMW that have been used in this country. It's focussed on the car but captures so much more and in a sophisticated and very stylish way. Love the car, all the better looking for those extra large rims. You've inspired me to take a friends car to the river here for a night shoot now. Thanks Joel.

Looks good! did it need the flash though, could you not have just gone for a longer shutter or used a reflector? just saying that in regards to the refelction in the doors.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to hypophotogenic [2005-05-22 22:48:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes absolutely right!! I tried longer shutter but doesn't work coz the the highlight is too strong from the light above the car and reflektor? Yes I would certainly used that if I had one !! Thank you so much for your suggestion man!! I really appreciate it...
