One word: Dracula! Yep, it looks creepy... you captured the creepiness perfectly. *hides from castle* (Yeah, I think I'm in a silly mood today.)

It's the biggest castle of Ireland, and at the same time it's an expensive hotel. You should see the castle's gardens: they're huge. You have to pay entry only to see this building. But not if you found the secret path, like we did

*sneak sneak* I'm glad you didn't get caught!!! I wish I could go to Ireland.... Doubt it's likely in the near future though.

Nah, 's not that hard to get there. I'm sure there are plenty of cheap flights to Dublin from the US. When you want it, it's almost always possible. I went there for two weeks and it cost me only about 300 euro. It's a beautiful country, so believe me, it's worthwile.

Hmmm, so in other words, I just have to beg my parents into going, or wait till I'm out of college.... lol

Haha well I don't know how old you are, but once one is 18 one can go practically everywhere.

Nopes, I don't get to go practically everywhere yet! Got a couple years to go! lol. I might go on a trip to Japan though in a year or two... Probably not, because it's (chotto - a little) costly.

Yay for resizing ;] I like the angle of the light, it brings out the texture of the stone walls, and a lot of details in the towers. Hehe, and I noticed it's not quite upright, but that can be fixed with a graphic program ;]

I feel like Architecture > Exterior would be the best category.

Darn, you're right, must have been looking at something else when taking the pic
Oh, overlooked that category. Though it is a monument.

A monument? Apparently this word has more connotations than I knew. Architectural monument...
Anyway, sometimes more than one category fit.

OMG! (sorry if you don't like abriviations) I love your picture, I only wish I could take pictures like that.

It's more like, put the camera on B/W, find the right castle, and take a picture. No great skills involved, I'm afraid, especially not compared to some other people on DA.

You know what, your scraps are better than the photos some people fill their galleries with! I thought that as soon as I saw your scraps - so if you compare yourself to other people on dA, do it both ways! Some people don't even know - once they've found the right castle - that they should get close enough to fill the frame instead of making the castle a tiny spec in the distance.

Really, the only thing that could be improved about this photo is resizing it, so it can be enjoyed in fullview as well. Frames always look nice, too, but they are optional. I like the sense of depth created by the trees in the foreground, and the contrasts between lights and shadows.

I really think you should move these photos to your main gallery. Or do as I do and start a separate account for photography ;]

Oh, thank you so much! Well, I was too lazy to resize them, them just being scraps and all that. But... as soon as I've got a camera of my own I'll perhaps start a new account for stuff like this. Thanks for the support, man! I'm still not sure if I like photography, though.

I see your point... I didn't even try to see your photos in fullview, though, since they are so big. Luckily the new submission allows you to have your photos resized by dA's servers :]

Every person has their own preferences when it comes to artistic expression. I think you have the potential to create an interesting photographic gallery. But the point of art is to express yourself, not pleasing others.
Anyway, sounds like you're planning to get a camera even though you're not sure yet if you like photography?

Well, it's more that I don't know if I like photography, so I don't know yet if I'll buy a camera.

you...you can be way to honest/modest sometimes, especially when it's your own work.

DorianP In reply to HeavensFallenAngel [2006-09-24 15:08:56 +0000 UTC]

call it honest

Seriously, these are just some first attempts, and I liked the way it all turned out. Perhaps when I practice some more, I'll be able to say whether I can photograph or not.
