Space Pirate -Rough Concept-It is said that there are roughly 360,000 missing persons reported a year, a significant number are never heard from again.
A small number of these(most are man on man crimes) are Alien "Pet Hunters" Humans are not considered a "citizen" class species in the Galactic Commonwealth, Still harvesting pure humans is illegal.
The work-around are modified humans (large market for these exotic pets/sex-slaves including many Planetary leaders)
Also Terran Governments turn a blind eye to the practice. (in exchange for Non-FTL-related technology)
So when a small group of Modified "Pets" managed to take over a Harvesting vessel. They have no where to go but to turn Pirate to survive.
Canceled Reality Holovision Show -Rough Concept II-
Several guys are transformed into girls dressed in fetish uniforms for a reality holo-show and put on a ship deep in the solar system.
Unfortunately the show is canceled and the formers men are stuck. Should I have one character be a Male to add the possibility of a Harem concept...and was the holo-show REALLY canceled?
Do they make their way back to Earth or discover a derelict with a working hyper-drive?

I like the space pirate concept. It reminds me of the computer game independence war 2. That one was pretty awesome, you started with a space station hidden in a nebula and attacked frighters for stuff. In this case they'd definitly be forced to do something if they wanted to survive. I guess the ship gives them some stuff, but they're humans and I don't know how well they can eat the alien food.
Ugh... how could you begin a story like that. I guess you begin with writing the liberation. Then they need to decide what to do next and realize they can't really go back, certainly not like they look now (the transformation machine was destroyed in the rebellion?) They need to rebuild it or capture a new one. Their problem is that the slave ship isn't exactly a battleship, so they need to infiltrate a spaceship dealer (could be problematic with their non-citizen status) for fighters and somehow get weapons.
They manage to steal two sports fliers from a space station, but they don't have real weapons and they're hunted by the police. The slave trader is seen, and identified. If they ever want to land on a space station again they need to change its looks. Finally they find out about an isolated(secret) depot for military weapons. (Maybe from the slaver species/plan an attack on earth?/It's not like someone will attack them for creating facts right?) they decide to use an asteroid to destroy the station and loot whatever weapons are left. Plan works partially, asteroid is destroyed by defense weapons on station, but manages to damage the station enough for protagonists to attack. The loot weapons and manage to stop self destruct. Remnats of the slaver species are spaced or held prisoner.
Decide to tow station away, even though damaged it might prove useful later. Decide to free other abducted humans and slaves from other planets. Learn stuff about technology, scavenge scrapyards, start slave rebellion. Maybe ally with some earth governments or topple others.
Well... just some thoughts of mine. Made this up as I went. Anyway, did you have some plot ideas of your own, or did you just think about the basic concept? It's a great idea imho.

Both are interesting concepts. I go with the holovison one, with a male-so much chance for comedy, uncomfortable situations and oopses (and most of all "This isn't what it looks like I swear!"). And of course, it ISN'T canceled. Hyperdrive or back to earth..hmm...not a clue. Have fun with that one!

I always had this secret wish in the tenchi muyo series that Ryoko and tenchi would live the space pirate life for a while (maybe due to a complete misunderstanding tenchi actually having a worse record then Ryoko
Should there be a male? Yes, and it should be HAL on that derelict ship. He was re-programmed for the reality show, and even he doesn't know if it's ended or not.. so follows his core program to create interesting situations for the crew without their knowledge. ^ ^

Hmm I like the concept. As for adding the one guy, could make the harem concept possible, and possibly hilarious, and probably easily explainable. Not sure if its the right thing. Hmm.. keep rolling with the idea though, sounds neat!

i like the reality show idea. especially with it being a 'no, it wasn't actually cancelled after all, you jsut needed to think it was, at least until someone found some working recording devices when finding out why the comms system seemed to be hemorraging power.

i like the notion of the reality show organizers have put the actual technicals of it in the hands of a third party, so they are unable to stop broadcasting when the maligned 'cast' find out that they are, in fact, still being watched, and plan to make an attack run on the organizers...

Yeah, the whole 'reality show' idea is fun. And definitely at least give the impression to the 'stars' that they are stuck in deep space.

lol, this is true. and probably with a wide variety of expressions, depending on how they've adapted. A few pregnant ladies, a few with small children already. And the guy looking exhausted, but very VERY happy

Mmm... I think avoiding the heram situation for the cancelled gameshow would be best, and leaving the state of the holo-show ambigious could also work well, hinting that it could still be going but nothing concrete.

Mostly just an excuse to put all the girls in latex Star Trek-ish costumes.
The Cameras are still feeding just it is not being broadcast to the public is what I think.

Hmmm. I like the show idea.
The show was "canceled" but then swiftly renewed without the crew knowing. The crew broke out in fighting but only the "girls" left alive. The show becomes a sort of Survivor-type, with the girls stuck on the ship with little idea on how to pilot the ship and get back home.
