Description The haluko is the largest hexapod in the world. They’re semi-social, living mainly within ocean shallows, but linger around shores and even wander several kilometres inland. They belong to a specific suborder of hexapod dragon, in which the wing arms are built for walking and not for flight. They’re browsers, spending most of their life eating whatever fits in their mouth. Vegetation’s most preferred (and keeps their ever-growing molars in check), but they are known to scavenge beached whale-like creatures. Their massive sails appear to photosynthesise, but given that it would be inefficient, they’re more likely for show.

Their most interesting feature may be the spiracles on their necks, in addition to normal nostrils. This mutation, along with heat pits in the muzzle, is found exclusively within this suborder. The spiracles allow the haluko to breathe while plunging its entire head under the water, and can be closed for breath holding to go even deeper. Uniquely, their eyes are also encapsulated in a clear scale shell. They don’t echolocate, but their deep call can be felt up to three miles away.

Due to their long lives, slow movement, and semi-aquatic tendencies, a special bioluminescent algae grows over their bodies. Their skin also typically bears a myriad of scars, caused by tusks and claws in minor squabbles.

Due to their sheer size and often fleeting appearances, some cultures interpret them as gods. Sky Toucher’s Land is one example of a place named in their honour.

Anatomical references include gorilla, dog, elephant and orca.

Amazing and you have done your research! Did you take a biology class or no?

Thank you! No, at the present this has all been self-taught.
