Good to hear mate. You did a brilliant job. I understand about getting obsessedΒ with a piece though I findd the more effort I put into a work the less I like the end result. Slap and dash works best for me. If it looks good then well enough if it doesn't I toss it in the bin.
I've been playing withe pastels. I tried alcohol which I didn't like but I found some odorless mineral spirits that have a favorable effect. I think you may of suggested them. Still not as fun as watercolors.
