My Challenge: To show the holy grail of all Labyrinth fanart...the kiss, without being blatant or trite or schmaltzy.I had to find a place for the two advesaries to give in to their desires. A place where they can put aside their respective roles and pride for a few stolen moments in the dark. However, they are not truly alone for all eyes are upon them, watching them no matter where they go. So the false alarms bear silent witness to this romantic interlude.
This is a quick sketch for a later painting.

Okay...I've gotta say, I was reading a couple of the other comments, and I ran across the conversation on an actor for "sequel" Jareth.
I saw a photo on here of a man that could look quite like Jareth. I know he's a theater actor, but I wonder how he'd take a role like that as far as being serious yet whimsical. The other question is whether or not he could pull off the voice and the gravitation necessary: [Marcus, A portrait] ...you think?
...And, of course, this is absolutely perfect. I love the way that false alarm on the right is looking away, almost as if he's embarrassed to bear witness. And the one on the left seems quite shocked. Their posing is brilliant, the lighting is brilliant. The balance is just right, the emotions are just right... *sigh* I really can't say enough good things (though I am writing a novel here...sorry). And to be honest, I really love the sketchiness of this version!

Beautiful! Totally not cliche or overly fluffy--it's perfect. The false alarms give it this strange, unsettling feeling... I love it.
And there's just something about the silhouette effect that's really powerful. This makes me think of the end of The Nightmare Before Christmas, when Jack and Sally kiss in front of the moon. Very picturesque and romantic and sweet and... gah... just beautiful.

This is very very dear to me. I liek to search for symbols. And I seem to find them in your artwork. Makes my figer tickle in imaptiently. Like a kid searching for secret, knowing it will ifn dit if it will look closely and make a bit effort to find it.
I am very attached to hair of Jareth you drew here. The silluette is very gentle, but yeat I can tell his head is titled in such angle so he can kiss her...that is very impressive.
Also very interesting their legs. You cannot tell the they are 4 but just 3...like they are one... joined in shadow, like one body, with 3 legs, walking or moving on with such body is hard...requares adjusting to each other, compromisses....
How fitting...
I cannot say the alarms are sad, sinc ethey were done in th emovie such way they looked grumfy and sad too...but they seem to me sad yeat...shocked a bti maybe....who knows.

No problem, I'm a terribly slow commenter! I'm so pleased you enjoyed this piece as much as I did. This one was challenging for me to convey the kiss in an interesting way. I do try to put as much thought as I can into each piece and the details generally do have meaning so it's nice to know that some people pick up on them.
