The first time that I've seen the first take of this drawing I didn't notice the needle/nail, I only noticed it yesterday. It's kinda a coincidence that you do another version and showing the little pointy object purpose more obviously.

The holes are kind of bigger than the nail/pin and shouldn't be all round, but don't listen to a zilla going technical and using his past life experience. XP
