Description
Metaphorically speaking, of course. :3 Sooo... what have we here? Well... it's a picture, of course! lol. Though... not just any picture. This right here is a gift artwork for , who I first met while participating in the gallery at a glance event. She gave me one of the most encouraging responses to my gallery, and since then I've started following her work, "The Author", which is a webcomic about a man, Rhyn Crenham, who accidentally causes a fictional world of his own creation to merge with his own, real life world. It is very good story... though as of late I know that Fluoroid has started and restarted telling it multiple times.
And now her activity on DeviantArt appears to have dwindled somewhat. Her account is still there, but I have not seen any new updates from her. I've tried searching for "The Author" elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find any other sites where Fluoroid might reside, sadly... I hope she's doing all right.
But in any case, maybe my uploading this artwork will help coax her out of hiding! At there very least, I hope she sees it, and I hope she will feel encouraged to keep going with her work!
Now then, about this artwork... So... this is comprised on one of my OCs, Veronika Arkadyevna on the left, and Fluoroid's OC Rhyn Crenham on the right! Going off of my knowledge of both of their personalities, I know that Veronika Arkadyevna would definitely find herself attracted to Rhyn. She's... well, she's basically a wild child who nonetheless really admires qualities that Rhyn has. In a lot of ways, he's her opposite, I suppose.
The location for this particular image is actually on the southern continent, Suvyetslandern, which is a continent that I have only rarely shown in my artwork before... and even then, the vantage angle of this piece is such that not really all that much is shown, lol!
I must say that... I'm somewhat disappointed with how it came out. Speed is a huge issue with me, and I realize that I can't simply slap shadows on like I did here. I *had* figured that more shadows would yield more realism... and to an extent this is true... but it's not enough. Further, I feel that, with these two at least, I ran into the upper limit of just how subtle of expressions I can draw. The... interaction between these two was originally meant to convey a complex mixture of very subtle emotions, conveyed through their body language, facial expressions, and various props between them. What yyou see here is... well, In my opinion, simply a mere shadow of what I wanted to convey with these two... and that saddens me.
Wherever you are, ?Fluoroid, please know that you are not forgotten, and that at least one fan of yours hopes to see "The Author" on a bookshelf somewhere, someday!
