Description
Another quick something I scribbled, featuring Belle, Jacque, Arezzo, and Fanta.
=================================================================================================
Jacque and Belle transported Arezzo to Heaven’s court. Bahamut and the other deities were not present in the room. An awkward silence ensued. Arezzo’s death had helped alleviate Jacque’s suspicions of the innocent youth. However, the jackalope still leered warily at him every now and then. Meanwhile, Belle was standing right next to Arezzo. She got a good look at his muscular physique, causing her to blush ever slightly.
Belle: “So… did you have fun talking with your friends?”
Arezzo: “Yeah, lots. I talked with my old friend, Verna, and my mother. She’s the deer you saw me with.”
Belle: “Your mother, huh? Well, she seemed rather nice.”
Arezzo: “She sure is. We had a lot of catching up to do. She told me I was adopted.”
Jacque: “…Really… You don’t say.”
Arezzo: “Yep. So, I might be one of you guys after all… but I don’t know which of you...”
Jacque: “…Don’t look at us. We certainly would remember having you as a son.”
Arezzo: “Oh, okay...”
Belle: “Anyway, have you decided on what you’re going to do about Mulder’s proposition?”
Arezzo: “I did... I’m gonna talk to him.”
Jacque: “…Are you sure you understand the risks? After all, you were already tricked and killed by one shifty demigod.”
Arezzo: “I understand… So, Homer did kill me.”
Belle: “Yes, they confessed to it, though claimed that it was to prevent you from activating a portal attached to some robot. They also said that you underwent the same transformation you used to overpower Mulder… Does any of that seem familiar?”
Over the course of a second, a memory flashed through Arezzo’s mind, though none of it could be brought into focus. A vague figure of what could have been a giant robot rushed toward him. Then, he saw the Insta-Portal Homer gave him. The perplexed youth could not piece any of it together. He simply shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
Arezzo: “No, I can’t say I remember any of that… But it doesn’t change my mind... I mean, if there’s no other way to save my forest, then what choice do I have? And even if he tricks me, I can’t get killed again, right?”
Jacque: “Technically. Well, at the end of the day, Bahamut made it your choice. How you justify it is entirely up to you. However, we’re coming along to make sure nothing else happens.” *Glances at a watch* “On that note, if we’re going to leave, we should do so now. Visiting hours are almost up.”
Belle: “I still say that we should wait for the others.”
Jacque: “But how long will that take? Cerberus went with Homer for reasons, while Bahamut and Kitsune are off trying to unearth more lost memories… By the way, couldn’t they just use the Room of Recall?”
Belle: “One: that works on mortal memories and not those erased by a Heavenly order. Two: we’re still cleaning the fur left by Keene out of the drain.”
Jacque: “Right, right. In any case, why let the curse wilt another leaf in the forest when we can settle things now? It may have slowed down, but there’s no telling if it will suddenly pick up again. Besides, with Mulder’s powers sealed away, we should be able to handle him if needed… Just as long as none of us do anything careless.” *Turns to Arezzo* “Now, if you’re ready, please grab on.”
Arezzo hesitated before grabbing the jackalope’s hand. The three of them teleported to the entrance to the Sutev demon realm. Fanta was waiting by the gate, filing her claws. Her eyes lit up when Jacque approached, her lips forming a distinct sneer.
Fanta: “Lord Jacque. Back so soon?”
Jacque: “Fanta... L-let’s just cut to the chase. We need to talk to Mulder again.”
Fanta: “Oh? Well, I’m afraid visiting hours are just about up. Come back tomorrow.”
Jacque: “Tomorrow…? No, come on now, this is important. And we still have three minutes left.”
Fanta: “And what good can you get out of three minutes? Nope, this is not my problem. If it was so important, you should have acted a little sooner.”
Jacque: “…Fanta…” *Grinding his teeth*
Fanta: “That’s always been your problem. You never spoke up when it was needed, never acted when it mattered. Hence why I ended up here. And you’re supposed to be a deity; a shining beacon for all-.”
Jacque: “Enough! You can and will let us in right now!”
Fanta: “…Hmph, someone’s in a mood… And what will you do if I refuse?”
Jacque: “Indeed, I am in no mood! Let us in, or I’ll do something we’ll both regret!”
Belle: “Hey! Jacque! Chill out! Yeah, she’s being unreasonable, but that’s no excuse to make threa-.”
Jacque: “ARGH!!! You take her side?! My own sister! GRR!!! If I’m supposed to be a deity, why does everyone have to correct me or deny me at every turn!” *Stomps his foot*
Belle: “JACQUE!!! ENOUGH!!! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!!”
Ominous shadows enveloped both siblings. Fanta stayed back with a calm expression on her face, albeit a bead of sweat formed on her temple. Arezzo bolted in between the quarreling parties.
Arezzo: “Whoa, hey-hey-hey! Violence isn’t the answer… Look, maybe we all started off on the wrong foot here. So, let’s take a moment to breathe and start over.”
Belle: “Arezzo’s right. Let’s calm down and work this out from the top.”
Jacque: “…Fine.” *Auras subside*
Fanta: “…Ah, I see you brought quite the hunk here.” *Transforms into a shapely lioness and swaggers up to Arezzo* “And an understanding soul to boot. What’s your name, big boy?”
Arezzo: *Smiles obliviously* “Oh, hi. My name’s Arezzo.”
Jacque: “No! No! No introductions!”
Belle: “Jacque…”
Fanta: “*Ignoring the siblings* “Arezzo? So, are you with them- the glorious wrathful Heavenly order?”
Arezzo: “I guess. Yes.”
Fanta: “Mmm… Sooo, it’s safe to say that you don’t have a… mate?”
Jacque and Belle: “Fanta!?”
Arezzo: “A mate? Well, yes, I got a few... Gene and Lulu, they’re my best mates- buddies since I can remember.”
Fanta: “…N-no, I meant a mate as in a… you know… A mate.” *Licks her lips*
Arezzo: “…O-oooh! You mean like the first mate on a boat. Well, I don’t have a boat, so no. But Lulu told me all about a guy who has one.”
Fanta: “…” *Thinking to herself* “Sheesh, this guy is a special kind of dense. Or maybe he’s playing me. And what’s up with Jacque? He’s too caught up in his stupid mission to even care if I flirt with his friend… More importantly, I’ve never seen him this hotheaded… Never mind that he doesn’t love me anymore. I’m not sure I like what’s happening to him…”
Arezzo: “…But my friends are in danger. A curse is destroying their forest. This Mulder fella in there says he’ll fix it if I talk to him. So, please let us in.”
Fanta: “…Fine. Since you asked politely. Just remember, though, I will not interfere in any brawls that break out. If a demon attacks you, you deal with it.”
Arezzo: “Okay. Thank you very much.”
Belle: “Just one more thing. You did in fact seal away Mulder’s powers, right?”
Fanta: “Yes. However, I restored his power to heal injuries and ailments.”
Belle: “Okay then. But why?”
Fanta: “I was tired of hearing the prisoners and their constant screams of agony whenever one got wounded in a scuffle or sick from eating the cafeteria food. It made it difficult to even think. But this way, he just slurps up their woes or whatnot… or however it works.”
Jacque: “Fine, whatever, we can handle it. Now, open the gate.”
Fanta opened the gate and the trio stepped forward, bracing themselves for anything on the other side. As they walked on, Belle grabbed Jacque by the shoulder.
Belle: “We’ll talk about this later…”
