Description
A sketch of a deity Arezzo met on his pilgrimage through death.
=================================================================================================
Arezzo awoke back in his normal form. The hole in his chest was completely healed. He was in a large room with nothing but a reception desk. There were no doors or windows. Everything was pure-white and illuminated from an unidentifiable light source.
Arezzo could not remember anything prior to transforming against Homer. He called out for over an hour, but no one answered. His eyes were then drawn to a shiny call bell on the desk. Despite not knowing what it even was, he rang the bell. Moments passed before a low monotonous voice came from behind him.
???: “May I help you?”
Arezzo: “Oh h-hello. Well, I don’t know. I don’t even know what this place is.”
???: “This is a place that does not exist as it is the destination for those who did something impossible. It is where celestials go if they die.”
Arezzo: “Celestials? Oh, like Cerberus and… Homer…” *A blurred memory of him fighting Homer flashes through his mind*
???: “Correct.”
Arezzo: “…Well, then there’s gotta be a mistake. I’m not a celestial... And I don’t remember dying.”
???: *Reading a long scroll* “There are no mistakes in this line of work. However, I am unable to find any records on you. What is your name again?”
Arezzo: “Arezzo. What’s your name?”
???: “Asambhav… No, I cannot find records on any demigods matching your description and name.”
Arezzo: “Does that mean I can go?”
Asambhav: “I’m afraid it’s not that simple. Like I said, there are no mistakes in this line of work. You were sent here for a reason. However, given a lack of documentation, I must defer my ruling to Bahamut.” *Hands Arezzo a note and then materializes a door in the wall with a wave of his hands* “Exit through there. Find Bahamut and give him this note.”
Arezzo: “…Oh, okay. Thanks.” *Leaves through the door, smiling and waving*
The doorway took Arezzo to the heavenly realm. He wandered the streets, asking random denizens if they were Bahamut. An angel eventually took him to the supreme deity.
Bahamut: “…Greetings… beloved.”
Arezzo: *Slightly intimidated* “Hi. I’m Arezzo. I take it you’re Bahamut?”
Bahamut: “Correct…” *Smiles kindly* “So, you’re Arezzo... You have become quite popular among the gods. What brings you all the way here?”
Arezzo: “A fella called Asambhav told me to give you this. *Hands the note*
Bahamut: *Reads the note carefully* “I see… So, you are a deity… A deceased one as of now. This has not happened in countless eons.”
Arezzo: “But sir, I’m not a deity, celestial, or whatever. I was born like all other critters in the forest… I’m just a little stronger than some, that’s all.”
Bahamut: “…I can tell that you wholeheartedly believe that. Nevertheless, many aspects of your existence are shrouded in mystery, even from us. With the celestial-level powers you have exhibited, we cannot say that you’re only a mortal, though you are technically dead.”
Arezzo: “…I’m dead…? But how…?”
Bahamut: “How you died is unclear. Regardless, it is quite fortuitous that you should arrive here, for you may be the key to saving your world.”
Arezzo: “Saving my world? You mean the death that’s spreading through my forest?”
Bahamut: “Yes. Before you and Cerberus defeated Mulder, he placed a powerful curse on the land. He has offered to remove it in exchange for a conversation with you.”
Arezzo: “Okay, then I’ll go talk with him and get him to fix everything.”
Bahamut: “However, you must understand that there are great risks. He has been sentenced to a dark infernal realm, teeming with malevolent spirits. While most of his powers have been sealed, we dare not let him out. You would have to meet him in this realm. In addition, he is very deceptive and may try to trick you. I ultimately leave it up to you whether you wish to talk with him, but if you choose to, I will send someone to accompany you.”
Arezzo: “…Oh. Okay… How long before my forest is…?”
Bahamut: “It is difficult to say for certain, though I would estimate that all remaining life in Ortus Forest will perish in just over a week. It would seem that another spell that someone previously casted is slowing down the spread.”
Arezzo: “…Verna… Well, at least there’s time.”
Bahamut: “Let me know when you have decided. Until then, feel free to explore Heaven.”
Arezzo: “Thank you, sir.” *Smiles*
