  “A tydd? How did I get so lucky?” Peter laughed an ingenuine but practiced, disarming laugh.
    Datro said nothing to this. Human emotions were not her forte, and she could not tell if he was laughing because he actually felt lucky or the opposite. She motioned with two of her four arms toward the center of the center of the city. “Let’s go.”
    They were currently at the border buildings, where the last of the fighting had taken place. It had been two months since the war ended—two months after ten years of savagery. Even after sixty days, dust stirred up by the last shellings clung to the air in a sickeningly thick layer.
    Peter followed Datro quietly as they left the small troop of soldiers. He shouldered his heavy pack acro
