originally this was going to be about all the things that hurt me, but in the end I couldn’t help but focus on the present– and healing– instead.

At 56 I can still feel this, just wish I'd found that better thing to hold on to. But life itself is worth holding on to even if I sometimes feel dissatisfied with it.

We have those times in our life, where it seems like a never ending spiral of pain and struggle,
and those scars come with us as time moves on, even when we've thought it was over and gone.
But from what I see you're not letting the past affect your present, and that's good. Even though
so many things have hurt you, you're still happy and strong with someone you really care about
and love.
I'm happy to see you open up, it's hard to fight your own demons of the past but you keep
looking forward, and that's what really matters!

wow, must admit i know how you feel, i felt consticted by my past and who people would see me if a showed my true self, but when i met my wife, it was like she found me as a broken sword, took the sword pieces and reforged me into a new and better form, i felt free from what had chained me down all these years and i broke them, this story has really touched my heart quite a bit and i'm glad to see that youve came through out to the otherside with someone

This... showed up for me at the perfect time. My girlfriend and I both are coming to terms with trauma in our lives we never realized was as bad as it actually was. I wish you the best and all the strength in the world to get through it all because I know in my own way how hard this is. -hugs-
