Description Zeke and co stripped naked to produce a calendar of Pilates poses.

Enjoy!

The builder character morph is great - purchased or dialspun? M5?

These are all Genesis/M5/V5 base and they are all my own dialspun characters.

I prefer to dial my own people and even mess with the skins as well

These characters are all part of a story in collaboration with I do the art, she writes the words.

Thank you .
It's actually only one sun light turned down really low.

I'm finding that the renders get more 'realistic' the more light you have in them, so have been experimenting with sun lights.

That's really interesting I'm assuming you mean the intensity of the light (like the sun) as opposed to the number; personally I've found that less is more when it comes adding lights to a scene in Reality.

I downloaded Village People so I could study it; I hope you don't mind It seems that you used the sun, IBL sphere and the floor as a reflector, which is totally brilliant I never would have thought of it

What I haven't worked out is how to reduce the intensity of the sun; it doesn't seem possible to do that in Reality itself. Does that mean you did it in LuxRender? I hope you don't mind these questions

dylazuna In reply to 3dLux [2012-12-24 10:45:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, sorry. I mean intensity. So stronger/brighter light and adjust the camera settings to the level of brightness required. You are right in that you need less lights generally in a scene. I also used only one sun light in my latest piece Better? as well.

You can adjust the sun/sky gain in Reality. On the lighting tab, if you select the sun light, you get settings relating to gain/turbity in the bottom half of the panel.

These are the settings for Village People:
Sun Gain 0.10
Sky Gain 0.50
Sun Turbidity 2.20 (default)
Sky Turbidity 2.20 (default)
Sun Size 1.0(default)

Camera: ISO 100 Exposure 1/250 FStop 8
Film response: Agfacolour Optima II 200CD

There is no IBL sphere, the sky light acts like one. You are right about the floor, it is just a basic plane and kind of a happy accident that it worked that way

I don't have a problem with the questions at all. Happy to help where I can although am still learning myself

Merry Christmas dylazuna I hope you, yours and your cats are well

Thank you so much for the tips and settings; I haven't used Agfacolour yet but you can bet that I will now

And I left a comment at Better?

Thank you Yes we had a great time. The weather was warm & sunny so went for a walk on 25th & 26th and had lunch with friends on 25th. Hope you enjoyed the holidays as well.

No problem. That's the film response I use the most as it gives good depth in the shadows. Sometimes you need to adjust the gamma setting though. You can also get some really nice effects with the other film types. the Kodacolour ones are quite good with firelight as they have come out in the warm spectrum, and there are others which would be really great for sci-fi/horror effects. Since you can change the settings on the fly, have some fun experimenting. Also try changing the colour space settings. The flourescent ones are good for effects and the daylight ones go from cool to warm. All in all you can change the lighting from day to night just within LUX.

Thank you, you're too kind

It was good although I was under the weather; there's some bug going around and people with respiratory ailments were particularly hard hit I'm still on meds but tomorrow's my last day of antibiotics

I'll remember that about Agfa Yes, Kodacolour, like its real-world analogue is great with reds and yellows (shutter speed > 1/100 will really saturate colors ) Fuji Cine 400 has an 81A filter effect on skin tones which is why I use it with sIBLs when the light tends to look cool

What exactly is colour space settings (then again maybe I should watch Paolo's Make Your Own Reality )

Sorry to hear you weren't well over the holidays. Hope you're feeling better now though.

I'll try the fuji cine. Thanks for the tip.

The colour space settings are in LUX. On the Imaging tab under Tone Mapping there are drop down tabs for Colour Space, Gamma + Film Response, HDR Histogram, Lens Effects and Noise Reduction. If you drop down the colour space tab you can change the white space balance. It's usually preset to something like D65 which is sunlight, but there are other presets.

Can't remember if it was in the MYOR or not. I'm an ex programmer, I just like messing with the software

Oooohhhh I like
I knew about the Gamma + Film Response because I've been tweaking that during processing I've used your settings and applied the D75 - daylight,7504K and it warmed up the skin beautifully (am doing a render in which the "models" have very different skin tones and my usual Kodachrome wasn't cutting it )

Thank you so much; will probably wind up re-rendering it as I've come across another technique for dealing with "dead eyes" If it's replicable it'll be the easiest way to add eye highlights

dylazuna In reply to 3dLux [2013-01-03 07:07:09 +0000 UTC]

Ooh please share if it works.

I usually make the iris and scelera highly reflective as well as the cornea being glass to try and catch any light. I sometimes also attempt to shine an eyelight, but I don't find it very easy to line it up.

3dLux In reply to dylazuna [2013-01-09 05:26:11 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to get back to you so late

The method doesn't work with a sun but will under low light conditions

I used it here :thumb341792876: and here :thumb346995951: In "Pursuit" the only light source was an IBL sphere and in Erinyes: Amazon 7 the IBL provided fill (the light source was the tunnel/belt lights which I converted to mesh lights in Reality). The eyelight produced was ok but when I had all the characters tool at a sphere then the eyelight really popped

Will continue to suss out a way to create eyelights in a full shot/sunlit scene

dylazuna In reply to 3dLux [2013-01-15 07:31:28 +0000 UTC]

No problem. I sometimes take a while to get around to answering things myself.

Thanks for the info. I remember reading in the forum that in order to get an 'eyelight' you need something for the eye to reflect. So guess that's why it's difficult with a sun light. I seem to vaguely recall something about placing an object to be reflected next to the eye in order to capture a reflection in photography

I love it! This is so much win!

They look great!

Zeke: looks like he's trying so hard to keep a straight face but starting to fail miserably.
Kyle: personal modesty is starting to kick in but he's still having a good time.
Ko: ...It's Ko. He's having a blast.
Chou: "I'm the Chief!"...enjoy it while it lasts, sweetie.
Sonora: trying not to laugh/fall over. I appreciate her strength but there are some things that she just needs to warm up for. (Maybe the helmet is throwing off her balance?)
Yasmin: looks like she's having so much fun!

Their clothes look fabulous! I love this work! I would fave it over and over again if I could.

Thank you

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out and I love your interpretation of their expressions

The helmet does make her a little top heavy. Not to mention all the other 'gear'
For some reason the eye shield also makes her eyes look blue. I had to go recheck the maps to make sure I had the correct brown one in there
At least Sonora had a chin strap, Yasmin had to hold her hat in place

Thank you. I really appreciate that thought

You're welcome.

It does but that's okay. Changing her eye color...? How weird. Well, stranger things have happened. I don't think she minded.
