Nice picture. I love the way they almost look illuminated due to the highlight against the dark of the animal behind. Fuzzy winter coats - love it!

Thanks . Their hair blowing towards their faces in the wind really caught my fancy. I am planning on doing a painting like that now!

Thanks . I am thinking I might do a big painting somewhat similar with the buffalo in the wind like that. I like how they have their backs to the wind and their hair is blowing forward like that

Cool We have Buffalo at the state park here and I always like seeing them. The park rangers warn ya not to mess with them because they're wild and unpredictable and like you said either jump the fence or just run through it

Yep, there is always a couple people get trampled or gored in Yellowstone every year. I have watched people climb out of their cars and get out in the middle of a head during their breeding season even, and the males are more than a little grumpy then !

Yeah it's amazing to me how stupid some people can be around wild animals... I don't think anyone's ever gotten hurt here at our state park but I don't know... I do know that these big animals can be deceptively docile!

And they move a lot faster than you think they can when you look at their awkward build! I love the tans and browns of their hides though. And the long hair and short hair. They are just cool creatures

Very much so! I've yet to draw one but perhaps one day

Wow, buffaloes again, yippeee!
We don't have any of them here but I remember them very well from the first book that my father gave me when I was just a toddler. There's something in their structure that fascinates me.

Living next to Yellowstone must be awesome.

They really are awesome critters. They look so awkward with their short legs and massive bodies - but they can flat ass run. They can outrun a quarter horse for the first quarter mile or so - and I have seen them jump a 5 foot fence like it wasn't there.

Someday, I'll gonna buy a ranch with bisons, bears, panda, elephant, crow, and tigersβ€”well, I can dream can't I?

Earleywine In reply to bleuie [2012-03-21 23:58:32 +0000 UTC]

LOL Well sure. The tiger can eat the elephant, Maybe the bears would eat the bisons, and the crow can sit back and laugh at everybody

I'll teach them all to be vegetarian. The elephant will plow the land, the bears will plant the seeds, the tigers will guard the area, and the crow will be my messenger. And you can shoot pictures of them anytime you like. Hmm, might as well teach them how to draw too. LOL
