Description A really quick MLP sketch I did to see just how much detail I can obtain in thirty minutes of non-stop sketching. This ended up the result. :3

It's only somewhat clean because after I finished, I went back and erased a few of the guidelines I used. Of course, that's all though; I'll go back and fix the anatomy and perspective (god, I'm very rusty at perspective :C ), but for now, I think it came out alright for a quick sketch. c:

Now, the scene itself; it's one of the 6 scenes I'm drawing for my zombie idea, temporarily titled Infectious. I'm doing this because I wanted to showcase how the cast will appear in the Zombie story; closer to their original designs from the show, only anthrofied with my own little twist. To be honest, I didn't entirely like the previous style I drew the anthro ponies in. They weren't... bad, I guess, but I certainly didn't favor it too much. :/

Anyway, this is actually #4 of the 6, so I can't really say what's going on because it may spoil it for the rest, at least until I post up the ones before this one. What I can say, though, is Applejack is doubtful about something, and Pinkie gives her own opinion on her statement (RD's in there too, but she's off-screen here).

What are they saying? Since I can't post what they're really saying at the moment, I'll allow you guys to come up with your own; I'm pretty interested to see what you come up with, actually. C:

Now, I'm not really doing these in chronological order, so it may be all over the place before it all comes together.

As for the story, I remember a few of you asking me what caused the outbreak, and where Celestia and Luna were. To tell you the truth, I've decided not to really dwell on how the outbreak started because, after playing the Walking Dead game (and having watched the series) I think I'ma try taking their approach to the subject and attempt putting my own little twist to it. As in, I'm not gonna say how the outbreak started, and leave it to speculation, as well as the whereabouts of the princesses (I think I'm gonna have to touch on that eventually, though). So... yeah. :3

If any of you have any questions, by all means, fire away. x3

Keep your eyes peeled for more, folks, and I hope this looks okay. ^.^

Don't worry about it. You tend to draw peacefull-but-worried slice-of-life scenes of women with big curly hair.

Eh, not really. I wouldn't really call this "slice of life" either, what with them being in a zombie apocalypse and such. >.>

Applejack: Yah, know you should not have opened that strange doohickey.
Pinkie Pie: Well, it was glowing and it has that nice green color and those strange looking curvy symbols seemed OK.
Applejack: Great, I bet you thought that green mist was alright too.
Pinkie Pie: Nothing happened to me...

I have my own story with the a different spin on the mane 6 but Pinkie Pie's analog lives in Rio and the Applejack analog lives in Moscow.

I think we talked about the werepony story, I started work on that.

Looks great.

I love the details on this work like Pinkie's shaggy mane, their rather raggedy clothes, and the 'feathering' at their elbows. They look kinda scruffy, which is only appropriate for the mess they're in.

Great art!

Oh, it's no trouble. ^.^

The overall progress is... well, since I've been so invested in Requiem, it's pretty slow to be honest. However, I have a general idea of where I want it to go, so once Requiem is at least half-way finished, it won't be too hard to get it to take off. To be fair, though, it's easier when I have a partner/co-author to bounce ideas off of, so I may end up asking some folks if they'd be interested in helping me with the project. c:

Really?? awesome! if you end up doing that, I'd love to help! so if you ever need any, you could ask me if you want to (only if you want to, I'm not forcing you or anything like that. )

One other thing, is Infectious like a Resident Evil/L4D type of thing? what I mean by that is like, is it just zombies or are there like, giant mutant monster-y things?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EarthnAshes In reply to Blackk4t304 [2012-12-21 18:10:18 +0000 UTC]

Hey, thanks! I'm not one to refuse help, so I'm certainly up for your help if you'd like to. ^.^

As for Infectious, I'm leaning more toward a Walking Dead sort of thing; they undead will simply be zombies, but some of them may retain some level of their previous abilities. For example, an undead unicorn may have the possibility of still tapping into their magic, and a pegasus zombie may still fly/walk on clouds, while an earth pony zombie may be able to run after their prey and are stronger than the other types. I don't want them too extreme, though, so these possibilities are slim at best. o3o

Ah, that makes sense (Never played walking dead, but seen a couple of vids on youtube, so I get what you're talking about.) It would have been cool to see GIANT PONEE MONSTERS!!!! (lol, that sound weird) but hey, it's your fanfic, and its still awesome!

Like I said, any help you need, I'll be more than happy to assist.

Lol, and thank you! ^.^

SonicHomeboy In reply to EarthnAshes [2012-12-21 17:06:41 +0000 UTC]

That is very true as it has been brought up in few discussions I've seen. I even watched the first two episodes of the Walking Dead, and I can understand why trust is a big issue.

DAAAAAAAAAAGH!!! It's not working... -_-

You're welcome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EarthnAshes In reply to SonicHomeboy [2012-12-21 17:16:48 +0000 UTC]

Inorite? I think it really makes for an interesting concentration for a story. Who SHOULD you be more worried about? The flesh-eating undead that are nearly everywhere you go in every waking hour, or those who remain alive? Obviously, the undead is a huge problem, but I'd rather deal with mindless walking carcasses, I think. At least there's nothing entirely new with them...

Unless, you know, the virus evolves or something. That'd be pretty bad. T.T

Speaking of, have you ever played the Walking Dead game? It's REALLY good, dude. You should totally give it a whirl if you haven't already. c:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SonicHomeboy In reply to EarthnAshes [2012-12-21 17:23:17 +0000 UTC]

It's a double-edged sword that one must deal with. Until you are certain with your surroundings, the only person you can trust is yourself.

Oh man... I wouldn't even want to think about it.

I would like to play it actually since I've enjoyed Back To The Future: The Game. TellTale Games have something going for them as far as what they have going on.

EarthnAshes In reply to SonicHomeboy [2012-12-21 17:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Ain't that the truth. :C

And you're totally right. TellTale Games did an excellent job with Walking Dead. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, but I'm not ashamed to say I got emotionally invested in the game and very attached to some of the characters. Which is saying a lot, since I can possibly count the games on my hands of how many times I grew attached to the characters. :3

It think you'll like it; it was very well done! ^.^

SonicHomeboy In reply to EarthnAshes [2012-12-21 17:35:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.

Games with strong characters can do that to you. That was how I felt with Heavy Rain. I hope to look into the game either in Steam or for the PS3.

I hope so! It's been awhile since I've played a point-and-click adventure game.

EarthnAshes In reply to Dartmaul15 [2012-12-21 17:12:14 +0000 UTC]

Mmm, not really. All I can say is, when you take breaks in between, spend it with sketching. Doesn't have to be all that long; five minutes a sketch or a couple of small headshots would be good, so long as you actually draw a little bit each day.

Oh, the end of the world's today? I completely forgot. D: Wellllp, now's as good of a time as any for me to drink some good ol' hot chocolate. c:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dartmaul15 In reply to EarthnAshes [2012-12-21 18:08:09 +0000 UTC]

Might work. All i need now is a soft pencil ,or just soft lead for one of those fancy Lead pens (duno what they are called)i got, and some paper (sketching with an ordinary writing pen is like fishing mackerel with barbed wire).

hehe. only way to make it better fit for hot chocolate is if you come in from a day outside in the snow, and sit in front of a hot oven. (prefferably good ol wood oven). Oh wait, it doesn't snow that much "over there" as it does here in norway.
Still a damn fine reason to have some hot chocolate.

Anyway, bye and thanks for the fish

EarthnAshes In reply to Dartmaul15 [2012-12-21 18:16:27 +0000 UTC]

This is very true. x3 Any pencil should work. Just gotta grab one and get to it! 8D

Man, I really do wish it would snow more often here, or at least where I live. But I live in the south, right on the border of Florida, so I don't expect any miracles. :C But, nonetheless, you're right; absolutely fine reason for some hot chocolate. With marshmellows!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dartmaul15 In reply to EarthnAshes [2012-12-21 18:39:05 +0000 UTC]

not any pencil. Need soft leaded ones if you can get them. Har lead just cracks, and digs to deep into the paper (aka impossible to erase). But yes, most pencil work.

You want snow? Take a trip to norway then. We got a LOT of it
Seriously, we got almost half a meter, lots of ice (really funny to see foreigners frive) and sub-zero temperatures more or less the entire day.

(u got the fish joke?)

karter151 [2012-12-21 06:16:35 +0000 UTC]

The one that I'm eagerly awaiting!! This style definitely fits better with the mane6, a more familiar look. Hopefully, we can see some of these in colour, that'd be awesome.

If I had to take a stab at what they are thinking/saying, my guess is AJ is beginning to doubt her abilities under the circumstanses and Pinkie is surprised and dissapointed with her as AJ is usually tougher than that (the last few scenes of "The Last Roundup" coming to mind). RD would most likely agree with Pinkie in that situation, but I can't tell without seeing her expression in the shot.

Of course, I could be wrong.........

As always, awesome sketch!! Can't wait to read the story!

Thank you! C:

I don't know about having this particular sketch colored, at least not by me; the sketch is so messy and full with errors, I think I'd go back and redraw the whole thing (and on good paper so I can actually color it).

As for what their saying, that's an interesting take on it. ^.^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

karter151 In reply to EarthnAshes [2012-12-21 13:31:41 +0000 UTC]

Errors which I obviously missed. But I think part of the beauty of sketches is not everything has to be 100% perfect. That's more so for digital pieces.....

For the digital artist, cleanups would be easy. Maybe if you find a good digital artist to do a line art and colour render, it could turn out like a full-on screenshot. That'll possibly have an impact on how the reader/viewer imagines the story in their mind. On the rare occasion that I dive deep into a story, I try and imagine it rolling through my head as a movie. Of course, either way you go about it, the quality and the detail of your sketches are so amaizing, I'll no doubt see the whole story come to life as it would on the screen. Shame is, it'll be something that'll never be seen on any screen with hasbro's money behind it............
