Description Shot in a park just outside my house, the weather wasn't perfect for what I wanted, but it was almost there. This is one of the two best photos took today. The other was taken by the lady appearing in this photograph. Good ole 50mm Sigma. This is preparation for my Surreal unit of photography for next year's A2 course. Starting early because I need a decent ( ) portfolio for university.
Qualms: Frame? Copyright label? too much space at the top?

yeah i think the copyright label is detrimental (sorry i love big words) although if u have to include it thats probly the best place for it

Darnit, after reading other comments I guess I cant use this : | lovely image though, i like the extra headspace it makes it look like she's soaring for the heavens more than it would if the sky was lessened. (If that makes sense)

GindigityRAWR [2007-11-05 04:02:51 +0000 UTC]

i really hope this is all edited and not an actual photo because im using it for a surreal imagery assignment for media, but they have to be photoshopped, so if anyone askes... hehe

Full credits to you of course, not that they'll be needed with the copywrite mark but, for extra ownership i'll make sure to write your deviantart.com account next to it

<3 it!

I wouldn't mind you using the image provided you fully accredited it to me and didn't try to pass it off as your own work, providing it was for research only. I'm glad you like the image, but you're right in your second comment, this is not a photoshop composite, but a true, real photograph. The only photoshopping done was a little cloning and healing along the bottom edge. Thanks for stopping by and commenting

i absolutly love it! the ubrella, kind of mary poppins!
but then better
how did you get this kind of angle with only sky

Heh thank you, after taking it I realised how strong the link to Poppins was. I shot this standing a little way down the side of a hill. She was stood at the top and just jumped up! Not amazing tricks of photoshop here. A tiny line of grass has been edited from the bottom of the image, but otherwise it was just a close crop. Thanks for the favourite and the comment.

I agree about the copyright label, but thank you I will reccomend that she puts it in the log book. She flew solo with a lot less training than I needed anyway.

Soph can fly! Did you ever retrieve the umberella?

The contrast between the black umberella and the sky works great, and I'm inclined to wonder whether perhaps it would have been better if Soph was wearing a black dress..
Nonetheless, brilliant shot.
Favourite, naturally.

earzy88 In reply to Atomic-Saboteur [2006-07-29 11:16:09 +0000 UTC]

The umbrella, luckily, returned of its own accord.

Yeh, I see what you mean about the black dress, but I also like the contrast between her white dress and the black umbrella. Although with the white dress she blends into the sky a little more. I think the black dress would look too much like a blank area of space, there'd be less deffinition and shape in it.
but thank you for the suggestion, maybe I shall experiment with it some time Good to see you here on dA too

This is waay cool. I like how she's jumping and theres an umbrella. Full marks for including an umbrella.
Maybe try and get a bit more up-the-skirt-ness for added titillation.

Wow she must have jumped REALLY high for you to get a shot like that. All sarcasm aside though I think this is one of the favourite photos I have seen on here for a while. The space at the top is good cos it makes it like she has a lot further to go, at least thatis what you could write in a journal.

Down with talented people!

P.S Love the copyright label

This is a awesome shot dude

Spacing and the frame is fine, but the copyright label should be less pronouned like closer to the frame so it doesn't cover the model

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

earzy88 In reply to advent-penguin [2006-07-25 10:10:18 +0000 UTC]

Ah, but if the copyright notice is closer to the frame, it can just be trimmed off, so there's no point in it, it acts as a watermark as well. However, I do heartily agree that it's nasty and distracting, I shall keep working on it and look for something more subtle. Thanks for the feedback, and a favourite too
