Doodling because i was wondering why you culdnΒ΄t make a barn owl character cute with black eyes? i understood that could turn out less expressive for kids and sort of creepy for those who were kidnapped by aliens...ehem.For those who never read the boks, Soren is not a scary angsty teenager. he is more stoic and has more personality.
Was fun to make this, i based the style in artist like ~demonish and ~wadifahtook who knows about animation things.

Looks great, just one minor mistake that most artists (and people in general) make with drawing owls that I see. CROW FEET!!! I don't mean to be rude but owls have 2 talons pointing toward the front, and 2 toward the back, but they can move one ove the back talons to the front for hunting purposes.

im pretty sure barn owls have 'crow feet' when standing at a neutral position, or even flying when not wanting to hunt or vice versa. probably just depends on the owl in question, and so its not just this one set position of the talons. looking at various barn owl pictures, i see some who have parrot feet, and others with crow and it doesnt seem to matter what the owl in question is doing. just wondering, not trying to start anything ahaΒ

aha, its fine, iw as just curious owo! i didnt know they did that with their talons, though, the whole moving one talon to the front or behind depending how the owl wants it to be. learn something new everyday aha!

Black eyes can be really cute.
If they'd made them brown like actual barn-owl eyes it would have been cool.
But almost every character had golden/yellow eyes. Even Soren and Egglantine.

Dude, that's awesome! I love the sleek design. And, although I wouldn't say he looks cute, you definitely nailed his personality! The only thing negative thing I can think of to say is that the color of his back feathers are a little more yellow than a barn owl's, which are more of a brown, but it still looks awesome!

I could see this as the scheme for a cartoon character. Thinking about that, the whole saga could be an awesome classic animated series. It should, somehow.

Actually, I dont own any of them. Read them through libraries spread a little over my country. Its incredible how hard it gets to find some things in Portugal.
But, bottom line, I had to give all of them back to their rightful owners, to my own sadness. Still remember them very fondly, though.
Watership Down was a very interesting read, very expansive and interesting, although I missed the expanded cast of the TV show. Of Ga'Hoole, I only got acces to the first 3 books, but I had a blast whith those. Incredible in any regard.
