Description This is a gift to my wife for her birthday. It is her character Trinity from the novel she is writing and depicts a scene where she uses her powers to perform an ancient wedding ritual that identifies if couples' marriages are favored by 'The One' which is basically God in her Novel.

Trinity dances about the lake and asks the various spirits of air, water, earth and fire to each do their part. In the end, a lake is frozen, a dragon of fire is conjured and a chandelier of fire encapsulated in ice to represent a perfect balance and combination is hung over the lake and the hopeful couples.

The flame that made the dragon was taken from candles held by couples on the shore. If they were favored, the flame was returned to them with a brilliant color to match the chandelier.

This was a pretty involved coloring job for me and I had to use some photoshop tricks that I normally don't. I also had to work on my human faces quite a bit but she is happy so I'm happy.

Everything looks great here John... but what impresses me most is the very challenging pose you decided to take on here. It flies in the face of conventional pinups, which are usually very static, boring poses of a character basically just standing there like a deer in headlights. Anything breaking out of that mold is a step towards dynamic, and you just go all the way with this pose. With regards to the whole idea of expressing an idea artistically, people generally like to see something that they wouldn't ordinarily see in everyday life, and illustration is one of the many ways we can do that. This is probably a bad example, but why draw a still life of someone when you can just take a photograph? I guess what I'm trying to say is, I like to be WOW'ed when I see a good illustration, similar to the way moviegoers who like to watch the special effects in their favorite movies.... so you've got a great, challenging illustration here that piques the imagination... and I'd love to see more, I say! MORE! Great job!

It was a challenging pose. That has to do with my wife being a fussy critic. She basically stood over me while I worked on this.

The results of your added effort are really visible, man, there\'s a lot to like about this piece! I particularly like the fire effects and the way the light plays off Trinity\'s skin.

Thanks jodimest. The light was the biggest thing about this piece and what I was most worried about. The second most challenging this was making a human face.

I predict that your own marriage has been blessed and will last many, many years. \'Cause why else would you do something so cool for your wife?

Wow... There\'s a lot to be impressed with here. You have a difficult pose rendered from an unusual angle, there\'s the play of the light against the darkness and the way it reflects off Trinity\'s body, the complementary colors of midnight blue and fiery orange... You must have been practicing energy and elemental effects, because you\'ve been doing some real nice ones lately. The next time you draw Capricorn\'s fire breath, you should do the flames like they\'re done here.

I used a lot of different effects to do that fire. I would use the same effect for capricorn's fire but not in the comic as I keep that art fairly simple. However, for a pinup piece with capricorn breathing fire I might.
