Walter is one of those damn bittersweet character. I want to hate him, but I can't. >.< Walter in his 30's is still my fave of his ages!

And I think I know why he joined the Millennium, he was actually going undercover to find out about the artificial Vampires, and when he found out about them digging up Mina's coffin and learnt they took Alucard's essence from her bones and did other unspeakable things to them, he knew that along with the bloody massacre that would make Alucard go quite crazy, he also knew Alucard would become absolutely insane with rage if he found out those vampires were from Mina's bones and how they disrespected her grave.
Walter probably knew it would happen, Alucard not only likes the fight and blood, he knew Mina would always be a sore spot for Alucard since he wanted her as his wife and knowing that she was dug up for an experiment would send himover the edge and not even Integra could stop him from killing everyone.So he decided to sacrifice himself and his reputation to not only protect Integra and the Hellsing organization, he also wanted to protect Alucard from heart break for Mina's remains being used by a mad man, and since he wanted a final battle with Alucard, he took the offer to become young again since as an old man he was not as quick as he use to be in his youth.
